Can someone who knows how to play guitar (Austin...or anyone else!) talk to me about the part in the doc where they're writing Get Over It - Timothy's bass part. Is it as fast and difficult as it looks? He says something laughingly to Glenn about, "it's a 10-6" or something and Glenn says something about singing to that...???
I always wonder what he meant about the 10 to 6 and 5 to 6 when he said that Don after Don ask him do you want me sing or wait?
Great question. I'm not a theory guy (most of my heroes were selftaught and more old school by ear and that's how I went about it), but my guess is that it has something to do with the time signature or tempo of the song....
Get Over it is in "straight time", in a Chuck Berry type fashion. It's actually my favorite type of song to play over as far as lead guitar.
I remember Glenn describing Get Over It as 'Straight Chuck Berry: never play a seventh' on the doc.

I think so yes, not unheard of but the right hand is definitely faster than usual.
Still don't know what 10-6/5-6 means.
I tried looking it up online, but I couldn't find anything on what 10 to 6 and 5 to 6.
What's a seven? I'm not good at music.
