Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I recently drove to northern Oklahoma to visit some family and I saw a billboard advertising Shiloh Interprises.
Last week as I was running some errands, I spotted a truck that looked just like the one Don drove in the Taking You Home video.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
This is definitely a stretch but at the casino I work at, there are many different colors and patterns. It was getting towards the end of my shift and I was standing at a dead table and realized that I was staring at the floor. For a brief second, a swirl on the carpet reminded of the Eagles. Hear me out, in my head I was picturing the big screen during Life's Been Good. I was also seeing this pic in my head. I could be wrong but I think it's during LBG when this pic was taken.

I found this pic online. Someone took this pic inside the casino I work at. Look at the carpet. I don't know if anybody else can see it but the carpet sure did remind me of the guys in concert.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I had to go to Dundalk yesterday which is half way between Dublin and Belfast. On the way I passed a van saying 'Linden Catering Company' and when I got there I saw two different signs saying 'Business as Usual'.
The best bit was when I was bringing the kids ice skating later on. Of course I was wearing my Eagles T-shirt. As we were queueing to buy the tickets a man started talking to me asking me 'which Gig were you at?' It was great to say 'Both'

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I went to a friend's house for a special viewing of the six-hour BBC Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth. Both of us appreciate this movie very much. ;) I agreed to bring chips and salsa. So, I go to the local Target and I see tons of different varieties of chips and salsa. Which to get? As I'm trying to decide, I happen to see the "On the Border" brand. I immediately grabbed their salsa and chips and let me say - they're yummy!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Sounds like an excellent decision Soda. I'm sure they were yummy.
Today our local council sent out their bulletin to all the homes in the area. On the back page they put all the cultural and historical events (most free) that they have planned for the next 2 months or so. No. They haven't organised a free Eagles gig, but they have adopted a new slogan
'Be Part of It, Its Part of You'
Hmmmmm! That sounds suspiciously like a certain solo song.......
I guess there must be a Glenn  fan working for the council.

Peek, yours is definitely a stretch but we'll let it slide...
Your casino looks awesome!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I watched 'The Proposal' at the cinema today, and there was a scene, set in Alaska, with a small dog. The grandma said "Don't put him outside. The eagles will snatch him."
It's so lame, but I couldn't help a smile!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Lou! Maybe 'The Eagles' will snatch the two of us when we finally make it to the States to see them

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Last night my local tv station was giving their sports segment on the local news. One of the coaches from a team had the last name James and called his team the James Gang!
Of course I thought of Joe's James Gang!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
LOL that's great!
Out on the road today, I saw a...
Camaro. lol
Of course I immediately thought: "What do you say we pack up that Camaro, honey, and chase the sun until we're free!" - River of Dreams

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I guest lectured today about establishing alibis in criminal homicide cases. We were picking apart an actual case that occurred from 6-10pm, and I pointed out that one of the witnesses the class hadn't suggested as a possible suspect had been "all alone at the end of the evening" and spontaneously added "the bright lights had faded to blue." Two students and the professor caught the reference and laughed out loud - blank stares from everyone else. Culture, people!

Last week I passed by a street that I could've swore was called Glenheaven but the closer I got to it it was actually called Glenhaven.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I like the first one better. lol

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Me too. I love all of the guys but I think being in Donheaven sounds sooo good right about now.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I spent most of yesterday homebound with various Verizon technicians re-doing my FIOS Internet connections to my home (Yea!) (Well, not that it took most of the day, but that I finally am reliably back online...something that has not been the case most of the summer...)
Anyway, no joke, one of the techs at my home was none other than Timmy Schmit! How's that for service? Too bad I didn't realize it till he was gone! :hilarious:

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I'm well over halfway through the book No Country For Old Men, and the main character has just checked into Hotel Eagle. I'd like to do the same. Just not under the same circumstances... :nervous:

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was talking to my friend earlier and she was telling me that she felt she needed to do some soul searching. Of course I immediately thought of the song but was forced to put it out of my mind in order to concentrate on what she was saying!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
"Lalalala.... oh, you're having a midlife crisis? Sorry about that, I was singing in my head..."

That seems to happen to me a lot. Don't you hate it when that happens? You get a perfectly good reminder of the Eagles and would love to stay in that moment but noooo you gotta listen to what people are trying to say to you instead. :)

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
My mum laughed out loud earlier when she was reading a James Patterson book. She then read out to me: "I couldn't work out the song at first... then I realised it was Hotel California. By the way Nora was driving, it should've been Life In The Fast Lane."
Dontcha love it when your family and friends get those 'little things that remind them of the Eagles' too?

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Kind of abstract but anyone familiar with the Tim McGraw song "Live Like You Were Dying"? The chorus mentions that the subject went "Rocky Mountain climbing" and "...gave forgiveness [he'd] been denying." Thus... Joe & Don. It also mentions "a bull named Fu Manchu," which makes me think of Travis Tritt's song "Great Day to Be Alive," which brings me to "Take It Easy." Best of all, on the third rendition of the chorus, McGRaw throws in "...and I watched an eagle as it was flying." He's clearly referencing the bird, but I choose to believe otherwise. Reality's subjective, anyway.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Just north of Oklahoma City, I drove by a sign for Shiloh Interprises, Inc. I think it's some kind of architect or construction business. I couldn't read the whole sign while I was driving.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
When I came from the work, I saw a poster for a concert. One of the bands was called Tequila and the Sunrise Gang!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Reading my new Midwest Living magazine today there was an article about Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa. It's in Illinois near Chicago and has a fine golf course and breathtaking views. I'll bet my favorite Eagle would love it!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Speaking of which here is fellow Michigander Bob Seger with Tiger Woods. I know Bob is three years older than Glenn but wow. It does make you realise how good Glenn still looks.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I've been doing some writing...short stories and that sort of thing. The problem that I have is my characters all seem to end up with dialog that sounds like an Eagles Concert playlist......i.e.:
"I'm sorry about that, Barbara. I can't tell you why it happened."
"This new job is really interesting but I feel like I've gone from standing in one place to living life in the fast lane."
"You know, there's something sad about all the changes that have taken place since that new manager came on board."
I'M OBSESSED AND I KEEP GOING BACK AND REWRITING THE DIALOGUE WHEN I'M DOING THE EDITS -- FOR OBVIOUS REASONS! (Maybe I should turn off the stereo while I'm writing!?!)

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
LOL Cynd,.. go read The Long Story from the beginning.. I think you'll relate *G*
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
LOL Cynd! Nah. Some people struggle for that kind of inspiration! ;)
Rhonda - no better way to spend a lazy afternoon!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
That is too funny, Cyndi. I guess I'm supposed to be feeling bad for you, but instead, I'm just :jealous: !!!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Sometimes I feel cursed...it's tough to have a creative mind and find yourself constantly slipping into "Eagles" mode! I just can't help myself but I've got to tell you that I've had some good laughs all by myself when I go back and read what my characters are saying. It's so automatic sometimes that when I start doing my edits I end up laughing at myself until the tears start to roll!!!!!!!! And my roommate thinks I've absolute lost my mind when that happens. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "writers block"....:brickwall:
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Cind, that is funny! I wish I were so creative!
Fp, I saw a similar picture of Bob and thought the same. Oh my!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Although I did have my laptop with me on vacation, little did I realize that we would rarely stay in an establishment that had WiFi access (who knew that Yellowstone was trying to stay 'au naturel'?) Anyway, on the day that we were driving through South Dakota (from Mount Rushmore) towards Colorado, out of the blue my husband wanted to bring up Eagles Online Central. It must have dawned on him that I was going through withdrawal, not being able to stay up till all hours of the night on my computer! I realized I must never have called it "The Border" around him, because he referred to our group :grouphug: as "the Eagles have landed"--as in, "I bet you can't wait to get back and tell 'the Eagles have landed' all about the trip, can you?" :hilarious: That was the day I thought about Maleah (SD) and anne-o-gg (CO.)
I hope that reference is not lost on the young-uns here...Neil Armstrong told Mission Control in Houston that "The Eagle has landed" when Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969.
And BTW, I am planning to tell you all about our great trip as soon as I get my pix onto the computer, so that I can illustrate as I describe!
ETA: I just realized that this might better be about the little things that remind me of other Borderers, but I can remedy that. The largest mountain peak in Yellowstone is Eagle Mountain, OK?

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Too funny, Ev!
Yesterday my husband and I were shopping in a local Lowe's store and What Do I Do With My Heart came on the piped in music. I stopped right there in the midst of the treated lumber and told him to listen, it's the Eagles! He looked at me and rolled his eyes and continued his search for 12 foot 2 x 12's! I stood right there till it was over.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
We have had an extremely busy week and I gave up cooking last night so we went to Hacienda Mexican Restaurant for dinner. As soon as I sat down to the table I spotted this.
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...17091801-1.jpg
I pulled out my camera, positioned the little standy thing for it's pretty little picture, all the while my hubby and daughter are staring at me like I have lost my mind. Finally I was asked why I took a picture of it--had to explain we have a thread on the Border, and hubby immediately asks if it had something to do with the Eagles. DUH! They both just shook their head at me. :hilarious:
