Don, Sting and Billy Joel are all great singers but I think a supergroup with all of them might not have worked. It's like I love cream of mushroom soup, I love ice cream, and I love sour cream, but I wouldn't love them all at the same time.

I've never thought about it before, but Don and Sting have similar 'raspy' singing voices that would probably compliment each other nicely.
Does anybody else remember back in the 90s when Sting, Rod Stewart, and Bryan Adams all got together to sing "All for Love" for the Three Musketeers soundtrack?

I think that's pretty much the kind of thing we would've gotten with a Don/Sting/Billy Joel supergroup.
I remember that video. I loved that song.
Good comparison, Soda. I loved that movie, but didn't remember the song. Great song!
Sting and Don Henley did a benefit for the Walden Woods project in 1991, so maybe the idea came up then. I can't see any mention in the review of them singing together, though.
There's a picture online somewhere where Don shared a stage with Sting, Elton John, Tony Bennett, James Taylor and another guy I can't remember his name. Sting had a benefit show. It was cute picture. I need to find it.
The pic was actually on the page we share admin duties on. Lol.

Too funny! I can pick out Elton and Tony, but the others are iffy.
Wow, cool picture! It looks like mystery guy, Sting, Don , Elton, Tony and then James? Don's holding his mike with the pinky underneath it, which I've seen him do before, so I'm sure that's him in that chorus line!
I wonder if that's a woman on the end? So much smaller, and that is not a group of tall guys!
From what I remembered. I forgot the guys name. He's either French or German. Sting, Don, Elton, Tony and that is James Taylor
I thought it was a woman too. I thought it might had been Sheryl Crow.
That picture is freaking adorable! I've never seen it before - thanks!
I did also saw a picture on Yahoo of Don and Sting on the stage singing. I will find it in just a minute.
Oh! Man, my wretched memory causes me to embarrass myself yet again!
:hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:
Don grants a couple new interviews...
The Eagles to Tour Australia, but Fans Have to Stay in Their Seats and Put Away Their Phones - Don once again chastising wayward fans :( but says nice things about Bernie :)
Don Henley on the Eagles' Return to New Zealand - this one is much more interesting and pleasant! Don talks about the documentary and snarks a bit on Robert Plant. ;) He's also still saying the solo album is coming out in the fall...
I've been listening to GnR's former manager describe how he renegotiated their contract with Geffen records in 1991. They were only about half-way through their current contract but he thought he could get a better deal. One tactic was to start planning a tour which would delay completion of the next album (sound familiar?) and that got him the meeting with Geffen where Geffen asked what he wanted in the contract.
"I want the best contract you've ever given to an artist."
"You can't have it. You will never have it."
"Why not?"
"Because Henley already has it and will always have it. He has a favored nation clause."
Some of the rest is interesting for the portrait it paints of a fractured band and the issues with managing them. It's a bit slow, though. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O53JJiLcIKw]Youtube Link[/ame]
This sounds really interesting!

" I've got a solo album coming out in the fall. It's kind of a Nashville thing. Back to my country roots. It's not this modern country stuff. It's more traditional country. I am referring to it as an album for grown-ups.
You have Alison Krauss involved in it.
She's involved and Miranda Lambert and Vince Gill and Brad Paisley and Merle Haggard. A lot of incredible guest stars. I think it's a really good record."

These people are incredible! And at least he's still talking about it! It may come out after all! And I just might have to buy it!
This is in Rolling Stone:

I am with Don here. Sorry, but if you cover a song & don't get permission to do so, you have violated their copyright, and all the blathering about making it 'new' doesn't change a thing.
Yup, I'm with Don too.
....and me!
Somethng dont seem right seeing stadium of 60.000 sitting.
I sat at hampden on the pitch and once people behind me stood up i did to.
That way knew ok. They to be fair stood most concert as wasnt very warm lol.

They would of been better bk at home in germany
u do have to respect others around u.
We've discussed the copyright thing before, and I think everyone knows I agree with Don on that.
This guy isn't much of a songwriter if he doesn't see the insult in someone taking a person's song and saying, "I like it but let me change this last verse, make it less cheesy." To a guy like Don who is a true songwriter, and takes it seriously, having the audacity to change the song AFTER stealing would be a real slap in the face. Well, OK, not really that. Don is a giant among songwriters, and this guy is little more than an annoying fly buzzing around in comparison.
Just listened to the Okkervil River version of "The End of the Innocence" and oh my gosh, it sucks HARD. Poor Don. Leaving his critique at "I wasn't impressed" was actually kind of him.
In addition to sucking, it has some disturbing lyric changes:
"We're beating plowshares into swords but too cowardly to kill our kings" (!!!)
"Lawyers clean up all details since Daddy had to die"
I can understand why Don wouldn't want his name associated with that kind of sentiment...
I won't bother to type out the two craptastic last verses he made up entirely. LAMENESS.
I kind of wish Don hadn't given this guy publicity - perhaps it would have been best to let the song remain buried in obscurity, as this whole thing has actually gotten this guy into Rolling Stone - but I sure as heck don't blame Don for being pissed off.
It is horrible to think that somebody might think Don wrote those lyrics. It's a bit more obvious with the new verses, but changing half of a line is disturbing.
I'm sitting here tonight watching the news...and the sports comes on...and the guy starts out by saying..."I don't think this is what Don Henley had in mind when he wrote The Boys of Summer"...and goes on to do a story about our hockey team playing a scrimmage tonight...I thought this was so cool!!! not every night I hear Don's or any of the guy's names on the news!!
Ultimate Classic Rock facebook page share this on Don. Guess the artist in this yearbook photo.

Since it was Don's birthday yesterday, Houston's Classic Rock radio station was playing little snippets of interviews with him. A couple that I heard were....
"I was kind of a silent partner on the 1st Eagles album. I didn't have much to do with it but somewhere between the 1st and 2nd albums, Glenn & I became a songwriting team."
"Life was much simpler back then. We would get up & didn't think about much except songwriting and, Don laughs, girls." I love his laugh!! :hilarious:
I saw this link on Facebook and KEarth did a little article on Don on his birthday. They also included Don's Top 5 Solo Hits.

Very complimentary - nice article!
Somebody was sharing a picture on facebook of Don in one of his flannel plaid shirt. Someone said he gets his shirts from this place called Rockmount Ranch Wear. So I went to their facebook page and sho nuff he does. They even wished Don a happy birthday and had pictures of Don wearing their shirts.
I don't know how to share Don's part, but scroll down to July 22nd. A nice little article on Don.

Thanks for posting all of these shun, I've been looking around Facebook lately myself, some of the Eagles groups are cool, some have too much trash-talking for me. I want to hear about Don, not how much you hate other Facebook groups, other sites, and other fans who you think have done you wrong. Glad we don't have any of that around here.
