Thanks, but let's keep it that way by not trash talking about those FB groups here either (no offense HD).

Apologies if this has been posted before but I only came across it today while doing a Google search on Don - procrastination is a great thing :D
At home with Don Henley The lucky interviewer gets to meet with Don in his home in Mulholland drive in 1992!!
Its great to see Don so relaxed and I love the sound of his home, it sounds so unrock star like, even down to the books and papers all over the place and who knew he loved Gophers :D
My favorite line from the interview: "The overall effect is cozy and welcoming, not unlike Mr. Henley himself"
Is this the house that was destroyed in the 1994 earthquake ? Its such a shame if it was....
I'm not sure, but I love that article!
Oh, thanks Lacken, that article was great! Loved the line '...he was smart, funny and intense..' hmmmm This echoes the blurb at the back of Marc Elliott's To the limit when he refers to the '...cerebral, smoldering Don Henley....':heart::heart:
Definitely my kind of man :)
On another note, I got some recommendations from Amazon (because I'm such a good customer lol) and one was Don Henley, Taking you Home, a CD from 2000. Have any of you got it? I formed the impression that it was a kind of greatest hits CD but maybe I'm wrong. Would appreciate any info on it
Could you link to it? It might be a cd single or a bootleg. I've never heard of it.
Hi Soda, here's the link.

Looked inside as they suggested and could only see three songs! :-?
Taking you home; Dirty Laundry and Miss Ghost but there must be more as it's quite expensive.
I'd be interested in what you think.
Looks like a CD "single." Record companies experimented with those for a while before abandoning them. I have a few "maxi" singles as they were called. Some had like 6 versions of the same song, some had a few different songs. Looks like this is one of the latter, which means it does indeed have only three songs. It's expensive because it's rare, not because of content. Collectors are weird that way. ;)
Thanks, Soda, you're very knowledgeable. Very interesting
As UTW mentioned on the "Eagles Mentioned in the Press - Retro Edition" thread, Rolling Stone is paying tribute to Charles M Young who passed on August 18th. In this week's edition there is a quote at the end of the tribute....
' "Chuck was a complicated man," says Don Henley, who stayed in touch with him until the end of his life. "He was by turns jovial, arch, enthusiastic and demon-haunted, dark. His work mattered. I hope he knew that." '
Yeah I read where Charles Young passed away. I meant to post it on the board, but I forgot to do it. Anyway, interesting that Don stayed in touch with him.
R.I.P. Mr. Young
Found this recent interview while going through old Google alerts:

Interesting, thanks soda.

They pride themselves on the fact that they have never allowed their names, likenesses or music – individually or as a group – to be used to sell products. Not counting that Pepsi ad, or that Jack Lalanne fitness ad, huh? (Those featured Glenn, not Don). Those were done during the 'vacation' era but they were product endorsements.
Think I might be with Don on this one. Plus, the Eagles can't support this clothing company because then they'd need to wear their shirts. That can't happen because they make shirts longer so they stay tucked in, and the last thing Glenn needs is longer shirts!
http://ultimateclassicrock.com/don-h...ading-lawsuit/
I cringe every time I read about Don initiating yet another lawsuit, and I think the lawyer is grossly overstating the case when he says that "large numbers of consumers [....] will unquestionably believe that Mr. Henley is associated with and/or has endorsed the company and its products" (see complaint here). Only the stupid would believe that the Eagles endorse the shirt thanks to the cheesy slogan. He can reasonably assert that SOME will, but large numbers? He has no figures or statistics to back that up, which means it is indeed quite "questionable" a claim, regardless of the lawyer's choice of adverb. This is something I tell my students never to do in argument papers - claim something is "unquestionable" without proof - so I notice this type of thing, lol.
That said, the clothing company is indeed using Henley and the Eagles to sell their product without his consent. They are hoping to profit from his name, and while perhaps they meant no harm, I can see why Don objects in principle. He'll win this case; he's established his own precedent when he sued Dillard's for a similar infraction and won (see info on that here).
However, someone needs to tell Henley's spokesperson that the statement he/she gave to the Hollywood Reporter claiming that the Eagles "pride themselves on the fact that they have never allowed their names, likenesses or music – individually or as a group – to be used to sell products" is inaccurate. They can make that claim for Henley, but not for all of the Eagles "individually."
You can't tell me these Marketing guru's didn't know how sensitive Don can be about these things and how lawyer-happy he can be. IMO they had it coming, even though I believe 50+ percent of people wouldn't catch the Eagles reference. So I do believe it is exaggerated, but I find it hard to believe they didn't know how he reacts to these kinds of things. They either didn't care, or didn't know to do their research on him. :hilarious:
I actually think the word play is rather cleaver, but I also think over 50% of the people wouldn't even get it....Henley can sue whoever he wants, but it's unlikely the company made much money off his name here. Henley is a type of shirt that has been around for ages. If I were him, I would be like, "who cares", but this is Don we're talking about. He will spend as much on the lawsuit as he will make on it, making it not even worth it, but just to prove his point, he will pursue it. He brings even more attention to the company by doing this too.
If it was about the money, they'd allow people to use their name. I agree it's about the principle. The money aspect is like time-out to a child or jail as an adult...it's to deter people from doing it in the first place. People can say it's not up to Don to try and instill values in others, but he probably figures someone has to do it. I guess it's the internet age, people figure that anything out there is theirs to use if they so desire, and it's just not the case.
I have to agree that this is about principle, not money. I would expect that any money that may be gained from this would be donated to Don's charities. I can't recall the details, but I seem to remember another incident where Don donated the money he was awarded.
As far as the lawyers overstating and exaggerating facts, unfortunately, that seems to be the status quo in the legal profession. It's pretty sad given that our justice system is supposedly based on a search for the truth.
Recently released blurb, and if you click the Uncle Joe Benson link, you get the audio from SoundCloud. It was recently posted, not certain it's a recent interview.

ETA: It is a new clip from Joe Benson, aired on Sunday.
Thanks for that link, VA. Don does a beautiful version of Yes It Is. I always loved the song, and he definitely does it justice! :applause:
Does anyone know where I can hear the Joe Benson interview?
Here you go, HD.

Ultimate Classic Rock website did a little article on the 30th Anniversary of Building the Perfect Beast.

I really like the album BTPB, I listen to it a lot. I like EOTI better merely because HOTM is on it, but BTPB is right up there. He says in the old interview that he stretched further with this one, took more chances. I need to think about this, because my opinion of Henley's solo career has always been that he didn't take any chances. I've always felt he stuck with a tried and true formula and didn't move from it. Not that his songs all sound the same, because part of the formula is avoiding that, but it would be really interesting to someday hear what he felt were the chances he took with this album. I'd like to hear his perspective, as I'm sure it comes down to the difference between someone who's a genius at songwriting compared to me, who hasn't a clue.
In my view the chances he took were in departing so radically from the muscial genre people associated him with & drowning the album in synthesizers so it would sound '80s'. This is the reason why it's my least favourite of his albums. It doesn't seem to bother other people the way it bothers me.
It could be argued that some of the lyrics like the title track & the (in my view) extremely pretentious Driving With Your Eyes Closed were lyrically more left field than anything he had written before.
Don makes the 'rumored' list for a new release for 2015. Ahem.

Dare we hope?
I know - it would definitely be great to hear an official release date announced
An update to the Duluth Trading Co. suit that Don started. The judge has refused to dismiss the case. I believe this happened in January, but I don't see the update here. This gives a good explanation of the legal positions, so I thought I'd put it here.

Who knew that Don sang backup on Aerosmith's "Amazing"? You learn something new every day! I love Aerosmith and was reading about their Get A Grip album which contained this tune.
I love how he helps out these harder rockin' bands, kind of like when he played drums for Guns N' Roses on Patience at one of the award shows.
Don gets a small mention in this article about Taylor Swift and her propensity to trademark everything.

I can't remember the last time a current aspiring musician name-checked Don.

Don they're talking about you. Release your album now!
Another example of how the music our guys have done means so much to people.

Wonder when Don will release that long awaited album?
It's got to be after this tour is over. I can't see it happening before that.
I actually almost forgot about it! It's been soooo long
I check this site at the beginning of every month.

Don's been T.B.A. since August 2013. The six months that preceded that, Cass County was listed as an August 2013 release.
I see Mumford & Sons have made a new album during Don's T.B.A. time.. Like the Eagles in the 70s, I expect they'll be going less folk, more rock to fill those big venues they'll be wanting to play during their next tour.
