An article that shows that Don and the Eagles are not the only ones who don't allow puns of their names to be used. Hall & Oates are suing someone for using "Haulin' Oats".
http://pagesix.com/2015/03/04/hall-o...-oats-granola/
The article doesn't mention Don and his current lawsuit against Duluth Trading Company, but I thought I'd post it anyway.
ETA: This one does reference Don's lawsuit (and Beyonce's), and discusses the pride the Eagles have in not endorsing products.

I've always been impressed with the quality of everything that Henley's been involved with since launching the Eagles.
I'm not sure what his pre-Eagles stuff is like though. I don't know if he wrote or sung any songs with Shiloh but I can't imagine there being a better writer or singer within it's ranks.

Re: iDon in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I've heard the Shiloh album, but it's been quite a while so it's hard to remember most of the songs. That tells me that they are not that memorable. The only one I can sing in my head is Simple Little Down Home Rock and Roll Love Song for Rosie and I might be remembering that because they played it in the HOTE docs and it is a catchy little tune. IIRC, Don wrote and sang 3 or 4 songs on the album. As with most young artist, I think he definitely grew as a song writer as he matured.

Definitely. Listening to Dirty Laundry at the moment. Talk about a song that people can relate to through the ages.... It's like all the cable news networks listened to the song and said, "Oh, yeah, we can do that." But I digress.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Soda has a scan of the cover and it gives Don (sole) writing credit for three songs. At that time, imo, there was at least one better singer in the band (eg whoever sings "...Love Song for Rosie"). There are short bits of two other Shiloh songs in the doc.

This guy tweeted that Don did an interview. He actually tweeted it over the weekend, then again today. He didn't say when the interview was, but it was implied, of course, that it was recently. I asked him where it could be found and this was his reply. Does anyone have any idea what he's talking about?

Don's suit against the Duluth Trading Co. appears to have been settled out of court for an unknown amount, and the company has issued an apology, and made a contribution to Walden Woods.
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/business/299745591.html
The apology:
http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/d...donhenley.aspx
It's possible that the settlement was only the apology and contribution, plus maybe his lawyers' fees, but who knows? That's purely speculation on my part...

ITA! I admire Don for standing up for his rights and for also making sure any settlements awarded are donated. To me, that make a strong statement that he is seeking justice rather than financial gain.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Doesn't mention Don, but it's on his Facebook page and website this morning. I have to say, having to give your $700 cellphone to someone you don't know is not something I would ever do. There's a LOT of people that won't read this article, or hear about this in advance. If you take public transportation, there is no going out and putting it in your car. Parents would never give up the only method a babysitter has of reaching them in an emergency. While I totally agree with no video during concerts, and am willing to respect an artist's wish to have no photographs taken, I'm pretty certain that if asked to hand my phone over to someone, I'd turn and walk away. Which totally sucks because the artist gets the money from my seat regardless. I've been in very secure facilities before, surrounded by people with very high DoD clearances, and having to hand over my phone to them is not an easy decision. No way would I do it otherwise. Not even for Don, although being such a fan, I would see a posting like this before the show. Casual fans would not. And if a parent did hand over a phone and there was an emergency they missed?
By having this posted on his official sites, he's either saying "hey there's artists more stringent than me" or he's considering doing this, IMO.

Bravo to Mumford & Sons for taking a stand on cell phone use at their pre-album-release performance. The madness, the rudeness, the thoughtlessness must stop. Constantly looking at the world through a viewfinder is not seeing. Listening to live music while recording on a “smartphone” (or texting every 5 seconds) is not hearing. Experiencing life second-hand is not living. Be here now.

I saw this just now on my feed, I've liked Mr. Henley's page for years and this is the first thing I've ever seen from it, aside from sharing Eagles links. It's interesting to read from the comments how many agree, and even those who don't are quite nice about it (the worst thing I think someone's called him is a socialist or something, I don't think he even is!). I do wonder if it was Don himself who purposefully typed that, or one of his assistants or advisors. I get the impression he has a strong dislike of social media so he must really mean it. I do of course agree with him, it made the two gigs I saw over here much more special and atmospheric for not having the entire ground floor lit up bright white...

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I can definitely agree with his stance. As a related item, since it has to do with his comment that being on a phone is not living... It seems a new trend is for brides and grooms to ask guests to take pictures with their phones, even during the ceremony, to cut down on the cost of a photographer. A friend of mine on Facebook thought this was a great idea. I asked why she'd want to view the marriage ceremony of her niece through a phone, and why she'd want to block the view of the people behind her.
You know, if people want to live through their phone, that's their prerogative. When it crosses the line of interfering with someone else's enjoyment of something, or using it to infringe on copyrighted material, that's another thing altogether. Like cigarette smoking, you want to destroy your body, do it, just keep your smoke far away from me.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I think, if it's possible, the band should put on two shows at each venue. One, no tech show at reduced prices. Instant ejection for any visible tech.
Second show, vastly inflated prices but the audience would be allowed to use all the tech they want.
In fact, the band could cut out the middle man and save a lot of fuss by, rather than performing the show personally, they could just run a film of the first concert on the screens at the second concert. Result. Everyone is happy :partytime:.

This is something to really celebrate, IMO. I'm so glad Don did this and continues to put time, money, and attention on it.
