Re: 2013 Sundance Film Festival - DVD Premiere
It's still fun to dream, hope and wish! Although us die-hard Guns N Roses fans pretty much knew Axl wouldn't show up at the Hall of Fame and play with his former bandmates, we all held out that glimmer of hope right up until the last minute.:brickwall:

I finally had time to go through all the twitter search results! Here's a video of the press conference, I don't think it's on here yet.

Re: 2013 Sundance Film Festival - DVD Premiere
If Felder was there, I think they would show him off by having him do Hotel California at least, and it would be very silly for Stu to resent that. I mean Stu's great and all but in the end, he's a sideman who is copying Felder's parts. Felder is the original, Felder was the Eagle.
But the more I think about it, the more I realize how unlikely it is that Felder would be included. I guess that means Bernie and Randy are it. Probably just a couple guest appearances.

Seriously, I've taught classes on the subject and IMO, this is one of the hardest things for people, if not the hardest. It takes a lot of work just to get to where you want to forgive someone, and when someone really hits you where it hurts it's a lot harder. There's a lot of people who feel their hurt and anger are justified and don't feel they even need to try to forgive. As Don himself sang, "You keep carryin' that anger, it'll eat you up inside." (Being the passionate Eagles fan I am, I used this song in my Sunday School classes!)

Well, I'm one that would love to see Felder do his parts such as on HC and OOTN, if he would show up. I still don't see that happening. Forgiveness is one thing, but the lawsuit hits below the belt. You can forgive some things, but you don't usually forget completely. Money talks very loudly and I'll bet it's very, very loud in this case.
I would be absolutely shocked if Felder is even asked.
I do believe in forgiveness & as Don even sings about it, He should heed his own words.
Felder was in The Eagles from 1975-80, 1994-2001, they surely must have had some good times together. Yes, money was a big thing, but you know MONEY ISN"T EVERYTHING.... Isn't Don Henley worth appox. $300 million dollars??? I mean, how much does one person, or family need??? How many homes does someone need, boats, planes, or whatever else he spends it on. Seriously? So Felder got a few million, I guess the judge felt he deserved it...When is DON HENLEY gonna "GET OVER IT"????The lawsuit is long over...It would be a huge treat for the fans to see Don Felder up there playing with them. If Don can't FORGIVE, then maybe he can FORGET..Maybe he should write a song about that!!
CRAP, the fans would really be in for a huge treat if Felder walked on that stage, & Henley knows it!!! WHY can't they do it for US????
Re: 2013 Sundance Film Festival - DVD Premiere
I think Don Should forgive but if he doesnt want to Get over it as you say that's his right. Although he should've just said his name not call him the other guy. Sorry but Im protective of my fav.
Re: 2013 Sundance Film Festival - DVD Premiere
I can't speak for Don but from what I've read it's not about money, it's about Felder betraying him and the band.
I know it's good to forgive but let's be real, we probably all have people in our lives who we have a hard time forgiving so think about that before you cast stones. None of us is perfect, not even Don Henley. :)

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I'm not sure what Don's net worth has to do with any of it? You lost me with that bit of it.
Forgiveness, as I said, is an issue we all struggle with. They don't owe it to the fans to put themselves what they MAY feel will be 'hell', and even if it's something they'd want to do for the fans, I'd hope they'd never attempt it unless they knew they could all see it through to the end without making matters worse. For myself, re-reading what I wrote previously, I want to clarify that forgiveness is an issue I struggle with, in spite of teaching a class on how and why it needs to be done. There are things that have hurt me from decades ago that I still haven't quite forgiven, so I'm not about to point fingers or throw stones at those who may or may not be in the same boat I'm in. These guys are stars that have shined brightly for over 40 years, but they are still human. I know that there have been people who have looked at me and judged me for not forgiving someone...just adds one more hurt to the heap.

Wow, you said what I meant to say and used a lot less words!!
Re: 2013 Sundance Film Festival - DVD Premiere
Yes, I agree with Sara too. We're putting all of this on the band when we really have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. As I said in my last post, I really don't think that Don Felder has any desire to get back with the Eagles. Of course it would be awesome for all sorts of nostalgic reasons if he did play with them again, but I just don't see it happening. I kind of feel like that ship has sailed.
As I mentioned before, Pink Floyd got back together for Live 8, which pleased a lot of fans, but they were adamant, even after that performance, that they would not tour. David Gilmour said in an interview that, even though Live 8 was incredible and emotional for all of them, there were old issues that started to niggle even during rehearsals. They're grown-ups and they just know that, however much respect they might have for each other as musicians and however much success they have shared in their lives, they are just not compatible on a long-term basis. They all knew that touring together would be a nightmare, no matter how satisfying those few minutes of playing together on stage were. We have to respect that. I feel the same way about the Eagles. Even if they have somewhat forgiven each other (I doubt Don calls up Glenn and bitches about Felder on a regular basis... if ever!), old wounds run deep and sometimes personalities and working methods just cause friction by their very natures. It would be madness to try to make something work in that situation, just because it might make a few hardcore Felder fans happy. Pleasing the fans is obviously something they try to do but, as we know by our set list discussions, you are never going to please everyone. There comes a point where you just stop trying and do what you feel is right and what makes you happy.
I'm just thrilled that this whole thing is happening and I can't wait to see what kind of surprises this tour throws at us. I am just as excited about the possible inclusion of 'honorary' Eagles members as I am about any former members. It will be a fun ride and I'm sure we will feel like we know, and understand, the band on a whole new level after we've seen these films.

ITA, Brooke. While I think most Eagles fans would be delighted to see Felder included, I don't hold out much hope for it happening. Of course, I never say never, but I'd be very shocked. Although none of us knows all the details of how everything went down, I think the wounds must go pretty deep considering Felder's lawsuit, book, and subsequent comments in interviews.
ETA: I responded to Brooke without realizing there was a whole 'nother page in this thread. Just want to say "Amen" to everything HD, VA, and Troub said!
