Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Well. I don't think everybody in the world knows Don has another daughter. They always say his three teenage children with his wife. So he probably had to say his 40 year old daughter is getting married instead of thinking of his soon to be 20 year old daughter getting married. After a while, Don can't say his three teenage children are at home. He will only have 2. To think about it. When is the age when you're not a teenager anymore.
I think Don will be grandpa soon. Then Don will probably be the first grandparent of the "current" Eagles. Not talking about the former members, but the current members.

Good lord I could not imagine being almost 70 & having teenagers! I don't have the patience for my 30 somethings.
Don has been a lot more open lately about his family. Glad he struck a good balance.

True, lol. I remember being teased a bit in school because compared to my classmates' parents, my parents were old (about a decade older)

He really has been very open about his family especially his kids. I was very shocked. I guess they're at the age where he can talk a little bit more about them, but still protect his privacy. I just loved the fact that Annabel toured with her father and then Will playing drums on No, Thank You. I think we might would had seen his children doing the Kennedy Honors. I said might. Not saying Don's children and the other guys children would had been there this weekend. But that's another story.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I doubt he would allow his kids to be photographed. He has said numerous times he doesn't allow it as long as they are underaged. I agree with his wanting them to have a normal childhood.
Still can't imagine being 68 with teenagers. I just had a 30 minute conversation with my 30 year old & I don't have a clue what he was talking about but then again he was trying to talk during a DUKE game. He should know better.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I'm excited about the Howard Stern interview. As both have a pretty good idea what to expect of each other, there's no excuse for it to get out of hand. Stern often gets more out of his guests than the typical interviewer and Don is often surprisingly candid. That Don even agreed to it makes me wonder if he's ready to discuss some of the trickier subjects.
I'm remembering that in addition to Joe Walsh and Don Felder, Stern also interviewed "Little Rock Connie" on his show, complete with a Don Henley story.

Ha ha!! That was the first thing that struck me when he mentioned her age - 'not doing her any favours there, Don' but as someone pointed out I guess he felt he had to discriminate between His 'oldest' daughter, Brittany and Annabel.

I'm hoping the Howard Stern interview might be posted here sometime.....please

I just noticed on Trending newsfeed on Facebook that they will announce the nomination for the Grammys tomorrow morning on CBS This Morning. Fingers crossed that Don will be nominated. I think he will. The question is how many nominations he will get?
They will also post the list of nominations on Grammy.com

Don was only nominated for one award and that's for Best American Roots Song for The Cost of Living. Darn, Grammys. Oh well.

Don't forget Don will be on the Howard Stern show this morning. He's on SiriusXM channel 100. I think he's on at 9:00am Eastern/8:00am Central. If you have an extra email, sign up for your 30 day free trial to listen to the show. That's what I did since I already used up my 30 day free trial in October.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

It was a great interview. I love to hear the stories on the different songs. It wasn't the same ole ole questions.
Howard was soo on his best behavior. I was very shock.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I was going to ask what were the questions, but what I realy want to know is what wasn't asked! Did they avoid Felder, tales of drugs and groupies and his relationship with Glenn?

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Don brought Felder twice, but to talk about Hotel California and RRHOF. He was about Don F and their wasn't an out there question that don would be mad to say something mean about Don F.
Howard bring up does Don love Glenn. Of course Don say as a brother. You will love him or hate him.
Drugs asked a few times. Don tells Howard he didn't go to any program to get off of drugs or alcohol.
Howard was on his best behavior with Don which made me very shocked.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Howard was very respectful of Don & very professional. Great interview!
Don sang, Desperado, Boys of Summer, Cost of Living from new album
Stuart Smith & Will Hollis were with him & rest of band
Asked briefly about Stevie, but he didn't say much & Howard didn't press the issue. Just said very hard for 2 musicians to have a relationship. Also asked if he had a crush on Linda Ronstadt, & he said they kept things professional.
Other tidbits: Colitas comes from his road manager & means "little buds"
Also said Hotel California was their best album.
On tour he does no drinking & talks very little, even on the phone, to save his voice.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Please. I'm going by what I remembered. I was trying to work, listen and type at the same. The interview is probably be up later today. Yesterday's show is up on YouTube.
Don's band was there in the studio.
Don brings up his childhood and how he got started playing drums.
Don told him the story about recording of Desperado and orchestra were playing chess between takes. He didn't like how Desperado came out. Howard wanted Don to sing Desperado the way it should be sung. He sang Desperado. He was a little hoarse, but still good. Don didn't sound bad singing Desperado early in the morning.
Howard would play short clips of Best of My Love, Tequila Sunrise, One Of These Nights and Take It Easy, Dirty Laundry, Hotel California, and Witchy Woman. Don would say something about each song.
Howard say something like did you throw your solo success in Glenn's face. Ha ha I don't need you or something like(I can't remember what he actually said) He didn't do that. Both he and Glenn were popular back then. Don said Glenn came to a few of his concerts I guess in the 80s. He didn't say when.
Don tells the story about Witchy Woman. It was about his a former girlfriend's sister name Patty who was a witch.
Don sings the Storytellers version of The Boys Of Summer.
Don also sang Please Come Home For Christmas, The Cost of Living.
Don brings up he was just nominated for a Grammy yesterday. Don said he was not going to the Grammys. I don't blame him. You're only nominated for one award and there's a chance you won't win. Plus he said the award he was nominated for was not being televised.
Don talks Linda and him playing in her band before they started the Eagles.
Don talks about Stevie after Howard brought her up. He was being funny. I forgot what he said. I remembered something if htey were together. Don would wake up, go downstairs and says, "Baby. I've written a song." or something like that.
Don brings up he didn't want to marry another musician and how it wouldn't work. He brings up Blake and Miranda.
He brings up the story of Dolly's recording When I Stopped Dreaming and making the video.
That's all I can remember. I will post the interview once it pops up on YouTube.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

I was surprised that Howard didn't ask anything about the groupies. Don said he stopped doing drugs when he was getting married & going to have kids. Said he just did alcohol & coke. He just stopped on his own. Wanted his kids to be healthy.
Said HOF induction was fine & no animosity with former members of the band.
Little mention about Don Felder, just about Hotel California & about he & Joe working off each other on guitar.
He said he likes to fish & garden & make breakfast for his kids when he's home

I found the show clip on Youtube, but the person who posted it either stretched the clip or slowed it down. It doesn't sound too good. The clip makes Don sound very deep and the songs he sing sounds slowed down a little.
I might not post it. I'm going to wait until a better version pops up.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

A nice, cordial interview. Clearly, parameters were set before the interview but they were able to talk without it becoming awkward. I thought Don stood up for Glenn fairly well and would have said more if he hadn't been interupted. He also proved that he could say "Felder" without saying anything negative. I didn't learn much new, but I'm glad I listened.
ETA: Even Don Henley doesn't remember that NKIT was the first hit from the HC album.

Re: Don in the Press/Blogs/etc.

Thanks shun and TK for keeping us posted as the interview was taking place. I just finished listening to it and thought it was fantastic. I really enjoyed it and felt Don was pretty candid throughout most of it. I actually thought Howard did a great job of asking provocative questions in a respectful manner and Don did a great job of answering them or deflecting the ones he didn't want to answer. I didn't really feel either of the men took digs at anyone and both came across as fun, but professional.
Re: Cass County only receiving one Grammy nomination, I honestly can't say I'm surprised. I mean no disrespect, but, although I find the album enjoyable, I don't think it measures up to Don's best solo work. After all of the pre-release hype, I was actually expecting more. Please don't :machinegun:me.

Howard asked was HC the first hit off the album. Don says I think so. So basically Don forgot that New Kid In Town was the first hit off the album. And Howard had just played a little of NKIT before he started talking about HC.
I have the links for the interview in the Cass County thread and Youtube thread.

I'd forgive any of them for getting the details wrong after nearly 40 years but at least Don Henley has the grace to sound unsure.
