Re: Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
LOL I love that documentary!!!!! I just can't stop watching it. I don't have the slightest idea why. LOL I"m kidding. I love the Eagles and love watching those hotties. A lot of tension going on in that group though. I had no idea it was that bad where Felder and Frey were at their throats. I love them though. LOL.

Heard on ny nj radio tonight a dj mentioning that henley said they were bringing an ex eagle back. He said his bet was on randy or felder. Which is exactly the opposite suggeted here. Meisner i believe first the eagles have a bass player and second i read he may be ill. Though tim also has had recent health issues. Felder we all know the problems. So i would think bernie would be perfect but he needs his hair back!

Henley has already mentioned in an interview that it is Bernie that will possibly join them for some shows, but nothing is confirmed yet. It will not be Don Felder, & most likely not Randy either.

Even if Meisner were able to come back it would only be for a guest appearance.

I think DF is somewhat over it compared to when his book was released and I truly do think he loves the music and misses playing with them now (as he said in his breakdown on Part 2), but I don't think he has warm and fuzzy feelings for the members, not just GF and certainly still feels betrayed. I do think it was a bad deal getting fired and that it wasn't right, but I don't think he's over it completely or close to it. But at least he didn't get heated about it or still seems overtaken with anger about it. On the contrary, he seems quite sad about it, or at least that's the way he comes off on that doc.
I do agree with him on that Glenn was acting vile about it unless it was a reenactment as some have mentioned of what happened then and dramatized for the film and not the fact he's proud of it or that he still feels the hatred. I'm not quite sure if I believe it was for show, but I don't think we'll ever know, lol.
I'm not sure why the lawsuit/settlement wasn't mentioned but maybe there is some legal implications saying they couldn't.
I haven't seen it but from what I have read I would think that Glenn was reenacting the anger that he felt back then. I think he was entitled to do so. 'Hatred' is a very strong word. He felt that Felder was obstructing everything he was trying to do & he was frustrated. He is human. I don't know what you wanted him to do; pretend it didn't happen? Gloss it over? I said previously I prefer honesty, confronting as some here have apparently found it. This is the first time he has even spoken about it, as opposed to the amount of talking Felder has done.
I know I haven't seen it & perhaps I will be as shocked as you were but I don't think so because Glenn's feelings are as valid and as worthy of being represented as Felder's.
Re: Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
They brought me in with the assignment to toughen up the band, and that was my mission — just to make it stronger and more of a rock and roll band. As well as, I think I wrote more song ideas, basic track ideas for every album than anyone else. I was constantly in the studio at my home writing ideas that would later become ‘Hotel California’ or ‘Victim of Love.’
One of the songs we recorded for ‘The Long Run’ was called ‘You’re Really High, Aren’t You?’ [Laughs]. Which never really made it onto a record, but later on, it became ‘Heavy Metal.’ I took that track that wasn’t used, and when I was invited to write a song for that movie, I took that track and recorded that song for that movie.
I was always trying to produce as much music for Don and Glenn to write lyrics to as possible. And I also had the daunting task of writing for a cast of characters, kind of like in a sitcom. I knew how Joe played, and I knew how Randy — and later Timothy — played. I knew how Don played and he had to sing. So I had to write pieces that were musically comfortable for those people to play, and yet weren’t so sophisticated that they technically couldn’t play them, but also fit the character of the band. That was my job, was to write and bring rock and roll to the Eagles records. And I think I did a fair job at that.
For all the people who are talking about Frey's hatred of Felder, look at the way Felder barely discusses Frey here & how he glorifies how much he wrote for the band. Most of what he allegedly wrote was not used. Henley says he brought chords, not this stuff. He makes it sound as if he was the band's chief songwriter.
Well, I was the worst singer in the band, in the Eagles. Henley could sing the New York yellow pages and I’d buy it. His phrasing, tone and timbre is just spectacular. So if you’ve got a great song, and five guys to sing it, is it gonna be Henley, maybe Glenn, Joe, maybe Timothy — well, you guys go ahead.
As for this about singing - 'maybe Glenn' indeed. What an insulting remark about the co-lead singer of the band. He's entitled to say this. But let's not have this pretence that his feelings about Glenn have mellowed.

I'm hoping that I won't be shocked or disappointed as well. I have tried to just skim over the posts in this thread as not to spoil the surprise when I see it, but I don't like what I have read here & elsewhere (mainly comments on FB pages, especially Glenn's). :-( I don't mean that I don't like hearing people's opinions, I'm just worried that it might tarnish my opinion of Glenn, although that would take some doing.

I just looked at the comments. I wouldn't worry about it. If that is what people wish to say let them.

That's good advice! Thanks, Julie. :)
