Soda,

and in several following that one, Joe is playing a Tacoma guitar. Is he playing that in songs during the current tour? If so, is it a normal guitar or is it a "baritone"? I mean, does the guitar have a deeper tone than you would expect to hear out of an acoustic?
They are amazing instruments as I've said many times before. "Fender" has bought them out and closed the Tacoma shop in Washington supposedly while they move the shop to the northeast. This happened I guess a couple of years ago but I haven't heard anything on the blurb sheets about Fender offering new "Tacomas" for sale.

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Mike, I think that's the guitar he's playing in my sig picture. I don't know anything about guitars, but yes, he was playing it during the accoustic set.

Thanks PM.
I'll have to see if I can find a video of that set. I think when we got LROE, we only got the CD. I'd like to hear that git again to see if it sounds as good as the one I "auditioned" back in the mid-90's. The brain has a tendency to exaggerate the quality things that once impresses (at least my brain does that!) and that particular model guitar was not a terribly popular one. It makes me think Joe saw or heard the same thing out of it that I heard.
I'm pretty sure that Joe is playing the Baritone version of that line of guitars. Suspicion only though. Judging by the depth of the body and the length of the neck. The neck on a Baritone Tacoma is 29" scale. On a normal guitar, the scale is 24" or 25". It's really difficult for me to tell though.
I read up on the "Chief" line since that is the model that I auditioned. Like the RoadKing, it has the mysteriously placed and shaped sound hole, but the Chief has a smaller body shaped more like a "jumbo" that is more symetrically shaped with a more rounded body. The RoadKing has a larger body that has a dreadnought shape similar to most acoustic guitars.
The thing that makes them "unique" visually of course is the soundhole. But that is shaped and positioned that was for a reason. It provides more wood surface where it is needed to get the bass tone balanced with the treble tone of the higher strings. What you can't see is the unique bracing they use to provide the strength and that also minimizes sound becoming "lost" before it ever exits the guitar.
The thing that worries me is that if Fender does start putting this line of guitars out again, they will increase the price over what the Tacoma folks charged for this rather unique instrument.

I had my wee mum over for bacon gravy and biscuits (her favorite breakfast because she's not 'sposed to have it) to start the celebration of her 87th birthday last Saturday. I had the Kirshner Rock concert playing, and was explaining my very favorite pair of brown leather pants in the world, and commenting on certain ass-pects of some of the camera shots. I was clearing dishes and going into the kitchen when I heard her giggle and say "There's a nice shot." just about at this exact moment.
Well, at least now I know where I got it from....

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Bless you Deb, that's Exactly the shot I was referring too earlier *G* you've certainly captured that certain "something" *G* There's one other shot in those pants from the front that's VERY interesting from that same concert... and God bless Mom for having such good taste *G*

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Hmm.. I like the long hair, it could use some styling, but I like it.. and Im LOVIN' the jeans!!! *G* I think he looks fantastic! I can only hope they KEEP the whole Jeans thing WHEN they come back to the US to finish the tour! (Gotta keep hope alive!)
Thanks Koala!

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
I want to put in my 2 cents here on the whole hair debate... I'm kinda partial to long hair on any man but especially my rock n roll heroes (I bet none of you had figured that out yet had you?) so I LOVE it!

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Oooooooooooooh! I can see I'm in the minority here. Nope you can't beat his mid-length hair look IMHO. Only certain guys can pull off the long-hair look and I don't think Joe's one of them.

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Cathy, you and Rhonda should become Joe's new personal stylists ;)

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
I will be Joe's personal anythinghewantsmetobe!

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
LOL Okay, there must be someone else on my side here :hilarious: That lovely wave to his hair - he completely looses that with the long hair. There is no comparison.

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Okay TBS Fanatic - I'll admit it - but this is the way I like Joe's hair (and everything else!)http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...onalanthem.jpg

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Sorry, but The long hair is what works for me.

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
I do like your exhibit A tbsf but I have a few of my own...

Remember--we are talking about the HAIR!!! :hilarious:
Old or young Joe, short hair or long hair.. I like it when it's not all gelled and slicked back!
Who's with me?

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
:raising hand: Me, ticky!

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
I like longer hair, but I'm not too keen on the way Joe has it at the moment. I'm with TBF - the tousled look works! A few exhibits:
I've always loved Joe's whole look in this interview. The hair, the jacket, the t-shirt, the jeans...

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
*G* YUM Cathy! you're right.. that's beautiful.. but I think prolly the reason he doesnt wear his hair like that is cuz he doesnt like to mess with it. Not sure why he wants it long if he doesnt want to mess around with it, but that's MY guess. I'd LOVE to see all the gel and slick stuff gone and see how wavy it is. Chances are he'd HAVE to straighten it to keep it under control, but I bet that wave would be striking at it's current length. .... Okay, truth is.. I'll take Joe ANY WAY I CAN! hehehe.. as far as a personal stylist goes.. Ill be his personal foot warmer *G* or whatever warmer *G* Im not picky *G*

I gotta weigh in on this hair thang. I'm with TBSFan. He needs to bequeath that hair to ME. He obviously doesn't need it and I do!
And Ticky ain't Picky? Come on. Give me a break!

Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
 Mike, there is a better chance of you winning the lottery than getting Joe's hair.
