Right now Those Shoes and The Sad Cafe are separated by only one vote.... a real nail-biter!
TBF, may I borrow these for a minute?
http://bestsmileys.com/crying/8.gif http://bestsmileys.com/crying/2.gif http://bestsmileys.com/crying/15.gif I love In The City! I'm sad that everybody else doesn't love it as much as I do!
*sigh* Okay, I'm done.
I vote for The Sad Cafe.
OK. Now, not only are The Sad Cafe and Those Shoes tied, but they have the same amount of PRIOR votes. There will have to be a tie-breaker question unless someone breaks the tie before the round is over!
My vote
Those Shoes.
OK guys - currently in deliberations as to whether or not Eve got her vote in on time - I will post my decision shortly!
Nancy I suppose it's illegal to reiterate my previous vote? Sigh.
Cathy, I love In the City! It features one of my absolute favorite Eagles lyrics: "Somewhere out on that horizon, out beyond those neon lights, I know there must be something better, but there's nowhere else in sight." It shoots me straight to my youth as a city rat.
What's with the Those Shoes apathy? A thick, beating background; classic Henley imagery constructing the song's protagonist; a snide societal commentary buried beneath a narrative...
(Edit: apologize for the typo; Droid/Border relationship seems a bit contentious)
OK, decision made. It was only seconds after the clock struck 8:00, but it was after it nonetheless.
And thus.... the results for round four are still up in the air.
There's a tie between Those Shoes and The Sad Cafe (8 votes each), and a tie between their prior votes (2 each). Thus, we need a tie-breaker question. The first to answer correctly will determine which song gets eliminated.
Tie-breaker question:
In addition to Glenn Frey and Don Henley, which songwriter(s) co-wrote "Heartache Tonight"?
INCLUDE WHICH SONG YOU WANT TO BE ELIMINATED IN YOUR ANSWER OR IT WON'T COUNT.

Those Shoes to go
In the most dramatic results night in the history of the Survivor games on this board....
The fourth song to be voted off of The Long Run Survivor is Those Shoes. Sorry, "Those Shoes," turns out you can't do this after all. The tribe has spoken and it's time for you to leave the island. The rest of the songs may return to camp.

Voting for Round 5 begins after the following immunity question is answered:
Which song has three separate guitar solos, each played by a different Eagle?
Remember to include both your answer and the song you want immune in order for it to be counted.
King of Hollywood
In The City Immune
Nice Immunity Cami
You got it right, Wildthyme. ;)
IN THE CITY is immune.
Round 5 starts NOW!
I can't believe that sucky, Sad Cafe Stayed. I vote off The Sad Cafe
I cast my vote for "The Sad Cafe".
Sorry I missed the last round.
Me too, GL! Ah, Those Shoes, I weep for your loss! :weep: :weep: :weep:
Wow, great round. Unfortunately, one of my very favorite songs has been voted off much too early, but that does not lessen my love for it.
PM, I also do not understand the lack of love for ITC, but I'm happy it's immune this round!
Not sure what to do with my vote, so I'll hold off for now. KOH seems a little dated to me... but I really dislike SC. Thinking even more deeply... it's one of the rare songs I almost always skip or can't listen to the whole way through.
If anyone has any good arguements to keep one over the other, I'm game to listen.
My vote is for 'The sad cafe'.
HOLD UP.
I miscounted. I forgot to count my own vote. Turns out the Sad Cafe should have gone.
So, now we have a problem. Restart the round or just keep going? What do you guys think? We have to decide soon... what a mess!!!
OK, I'm gonna put a freeze on the game until tomorrow night at 8:00 pm. Let's hear your thoughts.
Please vote:
1) Eliminate Sad Cafe, reinstate Those Shoes, and restart the round completely including a new immunity question.
2) Eliminate Sad Cafe, reinstate Those Shoes, restart the round... but carry over the immunity question result.
3) Resume the game as it is.
Whatever we do now will set a precedent to be followed for future Survivor games if this should ever happen again. Hopefully, of course, that will never be the case!
I vote #2!
I second the motion for #2.
Oh Soda.
I would say, option 2, as 'The sad cafe' got more votes and the immunity question was won fairly. However... it could be that the person who won the immunity question might want to save the re-instated song, in this case 'Those shoes'. So I think it would be fair to offer the option of changing the immunity to the re-instated song.
Well - if this were a professional sport, and there was a mistake, the game would resume as it is. However, since it's not I would also vote for #2 with the same caveat that UK TimFan mentioned. To try to be as fair as possible to everyone, I think we should proceed as follows:
Eliminate The Sad Cafe, Reinstate Those Shoes, Restart the new round, give the winner of the last immunity question the option to change the song they want to make immune.
I think we have to give the winner the option to change the immunity question, especially if we want to make this a precedent for the future. If this were ever to happen again, the next time the song that twas made immune could be the one that should have been previously eliminated, so the winner would have to select another song to be immune.
I also vote for #2!
Well I vote for #2. But it does create a conundrum for me because now I want to protect two songs I really like this round. However, had I had the option at the time I would have most likely chosen Those Shoes. So if the decision is made to go with option 2 with the caveat that I get to change my choice then I would like select Those Shoes for immunity instead.
Option #2
:ack: As happy as I am to have ITC immune, WT should have the option to have Those Shoes included in her immunity options.
#2
But Wildthyme should be able to change the immune song if she so chooses.
Well on the surface its #2. But another option is to include Eve's vote as well - the one that the time was in dispute of. He computer clock may just have been slightly slower or something. Then with Soda's vote as well, its still a tie? So we just maintain the Status quo as is? Just a suggestion. of course in future games this would not really be a precedent.
GA, I'm afraid we can't pretend Eve cast her vote before the stroke of 8:00 just to make this conundrum go away. Board time is the standard because it's the same for everyone. It's the only fair way. If you're going to wait until the last minute to vote, it's your responsibility to make sure your "last minute" aligns with the board's "last minute." My "deliberations" were spent looking over old games to see if there was a precedent, and when I couldn't find one, I set it. ;)
Looks like #2 so far... we'll see!
As in any/all fair and legitimate competitions, all aspects affecting the outcome must be considered in the event of a “do over”.
Nobody’s perfect and human error is certainly a given (no offense), and everyone is entitled to make an honest mistake periodically.
That being said, I’ll go with #2, allowing Wildthyme to choose the song receiving immunity.
Precedents aside…life is not fair, but we’re on The Border.
Well, IMO, life may not be fair, but that's because you can hardly ever reach a concensus about what fair means on any given issue. Everyone has their own intrepretation of what fair is so that's why it's impossible to try to please all the people all the time. But, I totally agree with Soda about using the board clock to establish the official time for the game. I can't personally see anything unfair about saying that all votes must be in before the board clock strikes 8:00 p.m. EST. I guess if Cinderella had a deadline, then we can live with one here as well.
OMG! Those Shoes..........................................aga in!
As most everyone else, I am also in favour of the 2nd option as long as WT has the option to change her immunity song. It seems to me to be the only fair route to go IMO.
To be honest, I think #1 is the most fair. The votes were miscounted (it happens - that is why Soda lists everyone's vote, incase there is an error), so it should be a fresh start and give everyone a chance to pick up where we left off - at the end of last round.
However, since most people like option #2, I will not agrue against it. I do feel Cami should be able to change the song she wants immune though, since she should have all songs "in play" to be able to choose from.
OK! In case I don't get in tomorrow before the deadline I vote this round to eliminate 'Kings of Hollywood' (Sorry Lou!)
