The glimpses of Glenn = good. Side view is not Stevie's best though LOL.

Thanks Soda!!
It’s the Rock Hall's nominating committee that determines, on a case-by-case basis, which members of a band are inducted. The band decides who takes part in the induction ceremony.
In his book, Don Felder doesn’t say that Glenn and Don H. didn’t want Bernie and Randy to be inducted. It really wasn’t up to them to decide. Don F. says that Glenn and Don H. didn’t want Bernie and Randy to attend and perform at the ceremony.
Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense, at least in the case of the Eagles.
However, I think it might not be as clear-cut as that in some cases. Bob Welch's widow claims (perhaps erroneously? but she vehemently argues it) that Christine McVie blocked Bob Welch getting inducted in the case of Fleetwood Mac.
The trailer for the HBO airing of the ceremony! Glenn is on it twice:

If that is true, that is very shallow of Don and Glenn if they didn't want Bernie and Randy to attend and perform, . Without Randy and Bernie the Eagles would not have been and succeeded the way they did. Even Glyn Johns said it was the harmony of the voices that made them a band! Again, if that's true, I really have a sour taste in my mouth now for Don and Glenn. Dang, that's something I'd never heard before. I thought they were all in agreement with the entire members reuniting and performing for the induction!
It now makes total sense why Timmie said what he did about Randy being in the trenches and giving Randy the kudos! I Applaud Timothy B Schmit for that now more than ever. Shame on you Don and Glenn if you really felt that way. I seriously hope that it is not true..
We obviously don't know what Don and Glenn were thinking about who appeared at the ceremony (except for what Felder wrote, but I take that for what it is worth - he may be 100% correct, or it may be his perception), but I think that one legitimate way of looking at the issue is if you consider the band to be like a company and the band members to be employees. When you quit your job, you do not get the cool things that accrue to the organization later. If you quit in July, you don't get the year-end bonus. The issue really isn't what their contribution was to the band during its founding and success - that is determined by the committee per SM's information (though I'm sure the committee MUST consult with the main band members for guidance, how would they know what each member's contribution was?) as to whether they're inducted. The issue is who gets to do the ensuing "cool" stuff with the band after they've quit. Say Randy left in July, and Hotel California won best song in February (I'm making this up), does he get to attend the Grammys with the band? Of course not. All I'm saying is I don't think it's that much of a stretch for Don and Glenn to say, "Uh, those guys fought with us and quit the band over 20 years ago, they're not coming up here with us." Which obviously wasn't the way it went, but I'm just playing devil's advocate here.
[edit: I just realized this is the Glenn/Linda thread - this probably isn't the right place for this conversation]
Since Bernie and Randy did indeed attend and perform, Glenn and Don were obviously perfectly fine with it.
Sounds like more manufactured drama.
Certainly the public face was they were fine with it. From an interview with Glenn by the LA Times at the time of the induction:
Quote:
Q: How do you feel about being inducted into the Hall of Fame?
A: You try to be a bit blase about it, but when it actually hits you, it's pretty nice. . . . I'm especially happy all seven Eagles have been recognized because everybody contributed.
Absolutely agree with this! And I also agree that even if Glenn and Don had initial reservations about Bernie and Randy performing at the induction ceremony (which I'm not saying they did), they, obviously, decided that the right thing to do was to include them.
Here's a review of the edited version that should be broadcast on HBO this weekend (does anyone know if it gets broadcast in the UK?);
http://www.cleveland.com/entertainme...ion_cerem.html
Thanks for the link - no idea about the UK, though.
I got HBO just for this, and my cable's gone out! The guy is coming to fix it Saturday morning. Sure is cutting it close...
I wonder if it'll be on their streaming service?
Here's a link to an article which gives all the dates & times the ceremony will be aired:

I hope I get to see it at some stage. If anyone gets wind of the UK stations showing it please post it.
Just got this in a Google alert.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/the-ro...=Entertainment
It includes backstage interviews with Glenn, Stevie Nicks & Carrie Underwood recorded for the RRHOF Museum.
Ah, yes. Lovely appreciation of Linda but also some allusions to how she may have inspired him to do something different himself.
What a welcome surprise! After the day I had, so nice to get home and see this handsome man, hear that amazing voice give such a nice tribute to Linda.
I've mentioned several times that I had a bit of a crush on Glenn back in the 70's (and perhaps for a while since then!). My Dad was always very partial to Linda. He loved listening to her sing. Consequently, I've always enjoyed listening to her as well.
What a sweet tribute to Linda by Glenn. You can hear the love & admiration he has for her and her artistry.
Fantastic interview! I love it. Thank you so much for linking to that, GL!
It airs tonight, folks!
Too bad I'm going to miss it. :-( I don't have HBO. I'm glad I did get to see it online in April. It probably pop up on Youtube soon.
I don't have HBO either so I'm also in hopes that this will show up on YouTube before long.
Several members of the Stevie fan community will have her segment up fairly soon, I imagine. We've got some fast folks in there. Let's hope they include Glenn's segments too!
Oh my gosh, so fantastic! They edited out Glenn pointing Stevie to her microphone and a bit of the transitions but otherwise the Linda segment was all intact. So far there's been one audience shot of Glenn. I'm not sure he went back to his seat after the performance, but I'll keep an eye out for the rest of the program. If the program is offered on HBO's streaming service, I'll get some screenshots. Let's also keep an eye out for video.
ETA: They just showed him during the E Street induction, so he must've gone back to his seat after all. I wish I had seen him on the floor, wherever he was!
What a night that was. Stevie and Glenn together - SO INCREDIBLY AWESOME.
And you were THERE!!
That is AWESOME!!
I finally got the Showtime app to work on my phone, and I added HBO GO at the same time. I open up HBO app, log in, and first thing in the list of shows to stream is the RRHOF, with a picture of the ladies from the Linda Ronstadt tribute!
I've been using the streaming on HBO GO to get some screen captures! It's hard to control myself, lol, but here are the best of the ones I got from the speech. I haven't done the performances yet.

In the final mix, can Glenn be heard during the songs? Thanks for the screencaps.
For some reason, I thought Darryl Hall's comments about it were funny:
SourceQuote:
Zap2it: How was the induction ceremony from your perspective?
Daryl Hall: I think it was indicative of the music business ... and when I say "music business," I use that in very loose terms. To me, the music business is organized crime; it's not a business. [The ceremony] was interminable windbaggery.
Zap2it: You've said you were surprised to be inducted. Was that still a thought for you on that night?
Daryl Hall: Well, yeah. I never expected it, because I've always worked on the outside of all this stuff. I'm not a friend of those people, I'm not part of their world, and I was surprised to be included in it.
If you want the truth, I think there was a lot of pressure put on them from the outside to do it. All I can say about it, in general, is that I'm very happy to be in a museum that's part of probably the biggest thing that happened in the history of music. They made me part of it, I'm very happy about it, and I'm sure John is, too. But boy, suffering through that ceremony - I had more fun in gallbladder surgery.
Those are great screen caps Soda! Outstanding! Thank you so much!
I'm glad you enjoyed them! Here are some from the first performance - "You're No Good" (before Stevie came out):

Thanks so much for the screen caps, Soda. They are fantastic and everyone looks great in them.
And UTW, thanks for the quotes from Daryl Hall. Glad he enjoyed himself so much at the ceremony.
Yes, Soda, the screen caps are amazing!!
