Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was reminded of the Eagles (sorta) Saturday night at the Ted Nugent concert and almost had to have a smackdown because the guy was obviously a moron!!!!
The guy in front of us was showing off his new Nugent tshirt he bought and I asked politely how much they were selling for. He told me $40.00. I turned to hubby and said, that's more than I paid for my Eagles shirts. The guy turned to me and said, (and I still can't believe he said this), "well Ted Nugent is probably a bit better known than the Eagles." :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilar ious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: I didn't miss a beat and laughing said, "and that's why he's playing the Laporte County Fair while the Eagles are filling stadiums." Oops!!!!!!!! Then the moron looked at my hubby's Beatles shirt and said "the Beatles don't deserve to be in the same arena as Ted Nugent". Seriously, you drunken moron? Poor hubby thought he was going to have to bail my behind out of jail but I didn't want to waste my time on the redneck idiot! Jeez!!!!
I'll go to the concerts thread and give a few more details about the concert (or as I like to call it--- the white supremacist rally). :fear:

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Eek! I don't think I'd have got on very well at that show. LOL.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Oh my gosh! What a moron, TBF! He must have been living 'out in the wild' with Uncle Ted! :hilarious:
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
LOL! Either that or he doesn't share Nugent's stand on substance abuse!

Me either.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
The detective in The Killing is named Sarah Linden, which obviously reminds me of Don's hometown!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
 Troub - it doesn't take much for us does it?
And as far as that Ted Nugent concert, I'm afraid I wouldn't have lasted either. Fortunately, I've never been a fan of the man or his music, so there's no temptation for me to attend one of his shows (or rally). Good on you Willie for showing such restraint!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I posted this ages ago but I just came across it in my Photobucket account and it made me laugh. Our deputy manager, a Joe/Eagles fan, wrote this on the white board in the office one day (presumably aimed at some staff who can't stop bitching and moaning!) I think I was the only one who knew where it came from.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
There is a local band called The Allnighters--no they do not play Glenn covers but play blues music, but every time I hear that they are playing some where, I'm sure you can guess who I think of.

'Allnighter' has so many different connotations...it can mean sexual, drunken, or hitting the books! Lol!

Sadly, in my case it usually means up all night working. :-(

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
While reading the bio of Rob Lowe, (quite interesting, BTW) he writes about a script he received for the show "The West Wing".
Apparently this was one of Rob's favorite episodes from Season 2, called, "Someone's Going to Emergency, Someone's Going to Jail". In this episode Rob had a lead role, and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Well, that's a line right from Don Henley's, New York Minute, so I immediately recognized the line...
Apparently, every script for tv has a tile and they took a line from Don's song!....
Oh wait, now maybe Don will ask for his royalty check! LOL

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but it definitely reminded me of the Eagles!
My parents and I called my dad's mother in Ohio tonight as it was her birthday and she always asks me to play (and sing, quite badly :hilarious:) "Take It To The Limit". I forgot that until she asked me tonight. So I had to go grab an acoustic and play it! :D For not having played it in AGES I did okay on the playing part. I play it in Glenn's key of "G" as I cannot sing it in Randy's key. She isn't a huge Eagles fan but loves that song. She always said it was a Beatles song until I corrected her and she rembered. She's in her 70s and is bedridden with severe osteoarthritis and starts of dementia.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Well - that was probably the best possible birthday gift that you could have given her, Austin. As all of us here know, nothing beats the gift of great music - and it's just icing on the cake if it happens to be the Eagles.

I think this is about the sweetest thing I've ever heard, Austin...

I was at my sister's house tonight fell in love with the nail polish she had on...it was a really pretty merlot red so I asked her what it was...she showed me the bottle and I turned the bottle over to see the color...it was called "Allnighter"...I just grinned and thought oh I won't have any trouble remembering that name!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Zelda, you didn't explain that grin? :hilarious:

According to this site, the name "Henley" is English and derives from the dominant family who lived in a town called Henley in ancient Anglo-Saxon times. Eventually this family became "Lords of the Manor of Henley" in Somerset and produced barons and earls, who dropped it down to just "Baron Henley" etc.
As the family expanded, branches moved away and formed towns in England such as Henley-on-Thames where the Henley Royal Regatta is held, and Henley-in-Arden (which happens to be on the other end of the Henley Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, and is from whence the street derived its name).
So, our Don Henley descends (admittedly distantly) from English nobility. Not bad!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I have heard him mention once in an interview that "The Henleys came from England." I'd be more than willing to have him back! ;) Love your pictures, Soda!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Hard to believe a good ol' boy from Texas has family who originates from England!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
You can see my photo of the Birthplace on Facebook. I didn't take photos of the Henley St signs when I was there in 2010. We weren't there very long. I love the place & try to go there whenever I return to England.

FP, may I say, I love your sig!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
LOL, I didn't realize that I have been on Henley St.
I was just doing a crossword puzzle & one of the clues was The Heat _ _. It didn't take me long to fill in that one!

I pulled a catalog out of a drawer at work...from a company called Frey Scientific...I think I giggled through the rest of my planning period about it :nahnah:
