Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
So excited, today I went to Half Priced Books and found Don's [I]Building the Perfect Beast[I], Glenn's No Fun Aloud and the Miami Vice Soundtrack on vinyl. Also found Fleetwood Mac's Mirage. Can't wait to listen to them when I open the record player Santa got me this year.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Now that's a productive trip! ;)

I was playing the new Peggle game on XBox One, and
right before the text bubble popped up, I was like ohh are those eagles? cos they were moving up and down like birds flying...even though they didn't even really look specifically like eagles
then the word bubble popped up, and I was like AHahahaha! YES!
the guy on the left of the screen was supposed to be like the Dude from Big Lebowski I guess haha

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was stuck in mall traffic during my evening commute and was listening to NKIT on my ipod - I saw a red car trying to pull out into the traffic and was feeling some good will toward mankind, so I gestured to the car to let it go out in front of me and get this-- the license Plate was not a local one, but it was- FREY46! pretty bizarre!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Cool Kingston! I love that!

It's weird how sometimes the world synchronizes around you like that. I had a similar experience years ago, but not Eagles-related. I was driving to work one morning listening to Tool's Lateralus and just as the title track came on a car changed lanes in front of me and the license plate read LUCKY93, which isn't a Tool reference exactly, but close enough. ;)

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Saw Saving Mr. Banks tonight. It was a good movie, but I had to smile when P.L. Travers pulled up to the Beverly Hills Hotel (c 1962). Welcome to the Hotel California!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Cool, Hotel California!! I want to see that movie.
So I was just finishing up ROB LOWE'S autobiography - wouldn't say I'm a huge fan, but my brother and sister-in-law read it and said it was entertaining and it was, I sort of couldn't put it down. I def. recommend it. especially if you were a teen in the '80s. Anyway, he was talking about The West Wing (forgot he starred in that!), and he said his favorite episode was "Someone's Going to Emergency, Someone's Going to Jail" from the second season. They changed Somebody to Someone, but it sure reminded me of Don! Aaron Sorkin must be a fan.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was watching an episode of the old sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati last night. There was a huge poster of Randy on a door.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Okay MC and SG - Those are both very cool stories!

Well...the upcoming Walking Dead episode in this marathon is titled "Nebraska"...and it includes a character named Randall (who hangs around for a few episodes)...

SG- I saw that too! Les and Andy had a whole conversation in front of it. And then when they walked across the hall, there was a huge Eagles Live poster. I've been taping all those old episodes on Antenna TV. What a great show that was...

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was listening to music and staring out of the window when I saw an ambulance driving fast with lights flashing on the road below and I thought "somebody's goin' to emergency and somebody's goin' to jail":)

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Yep, bf - I do the same kind of thing all the time.
I was watching our local news a few nights ago, and a local sportscaster took a page out of right out of Chris Berman's book - he was showing the highlights of the Saints/Eagles game and said that the Eagles were going to have a 'heartache tonight' because they were 'already gone'. Of course, I loved it, and thought that I'll be tuning in to that station for all of my local sports news from now on.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Love them both! We were watching a documentary last night featuring a woman married to an Irishman. She was originally from Detroit. Hubby looked a me and said 'that's where Mother is half a word....? Right.'

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was watching Dogfight (1991 movie starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor) and there's a scene where she's listening to a Joan Baez record. Silver Dagger is playing, and all of a sudden I was like Whoa..wait a minute...that was a verse from Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies!
I did some research...I was unaware of the history of that song..and all of these little connections...love it!
They even mention the Eagles singing it before Take It Easy on the wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Dagger_(song)

T&H, thanks for that! She sings a beautiful version! I'd never heard the whole song before!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Every time I heard She's A Way on the radio, I think of Don singing that song at the Kennedy Center Honors.
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Last night I was watching Island Hunters on HGTV and the realtor met a couple at a Sunset Grille on Marathon Island in the Florida keys!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Watching my Pens take on the Florida Panthers, which of course always makes me think of the Eagles, since they sponsored their training camp a few years back.
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was lying in my bed and thinking of a stupid Finnish song for some reason and it has a weird frase "HC weather" in the lyrics, made me think of Hotel California, though I have no idea , what it means in the songs context:eyebrow:

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I have a student named Dalton, and every time I look at his name on the roll or on an assignment, the first line of the song comes into my head!

I'm a college professor. Most of my students range from 18-22, although I have a few non-traditional students that are older than I am! This one is 18.
