For myself, I wanted to go to 'hear' the Eagles. I wanted to 'see' Glenn. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking it may explain at least one reason why the guy I was supposed to go to the concert with ended up taking someone else. I just might call him tomorrow and ask him.
Re: Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
Regarding, Glenn's solo career... Honestly, (and if you read my New Kid in Town post, you'll see) I didn't know know about any of the Eagles' solo careers or otherwise besides Don Henley's until I saw the doc. I was born in '83 and Don was just more prominent on the radio, MTV and VH1 etc when I was coming of age to notice. So I've known I was a Don fan for a while...love Boys of Summer.
Looking back, I had heard The Heat is On, Smuggler's Blues, and You Belong to the City because my mom was a Miami Vice fanatic. However, it wasn't until I just dove into Glenn's solo career that I realized it was him who had sang those songs I had heard when I was little! (I now own 3 of his solo records and the Miami Vice soundtrack, and have heard After Hours and the others).
I like to think I've been a Glenn fan all along, I just didn't know it yet
obviously that's pretty much true because I also didn't realize that Glenn wrote and sang many of the Eagles' songs that I had listened to and "did things to" (as Glenn likes to say) hundreds of times.
Just enjoying the music had been enough for me. I didn't know what I was missing!
We are an overstimulated society. So if something isn't constantly in your face, or even if it is, you might not notice or choose to tune it out. Otherwise, you'd go insane. So while you might know who Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber are, you might not like them. Just like just because you overlooked someone doesn't mean that they aren't AMAZING!
Anyway, I'm ecstatic to be so enlightened by this new documentary and all the interesting details I'm finding out from all of you lovely folks!
edit: actually I did know about Joe Walsh's solo career. I've been a fan of his for quite a few years now too and have some of his solo records. Rocky Mountain Way and Life's Been Good are faves, but I hadn't realized he was an official Eagle. I thought he just played with them.

haha this would be true for me!

Topkat and I got a little off topic in Randy's video thread, but what we said was about the doc, so I figured I would post it here...
we had been talking about a video interview with Randy where he mentions the Third Encore...

I wonder if he ever participated in those shenanigans...or just felt pressured to...I mean he was married and had 3 kids. That's part of why he left..as he even says it got to be too much.
he seems like the type that even if he did fool around on his wife, he probably felt awful about it.

Felder admitted in his book that he did & he was also married. His wife also found some letter sent to him by someone he slept with. Can't imagine how that would go over in a marriage??? YIKES
Yeah, I bet they felt guilty, but that didn't seem to stop it from happening. Women were probably throwing themselves at them.

Esp. when Glenn describes the Third Encore, and how they picked the "people". He makes it sound like they invited men and women, as long as they weren't "weird". when what he meant was, they had to pick good looking females. I mean...they even called their little videos of the Third Encore, "Spread Eagle" hahaha
women were definitely throwing themselves at them. I suppose it comes with the territory of being a rock star's wife. You work through it. In the long run, "we can handle some resistance, if our love is a strong one"
(sorry this is getting off topic for Randy videos)
Re: Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
The way Don Felder put it in his book while explaining his own infidelity was that while they were on tour, Randy would "forget" he was married. Felder claimed you would have to be a "saint" to resist, married or no.
I'm sure it was hard to resist beautiful women throwing themselves at you... but it was possible if you truly felt it was important to do so. Guess they didn't.

thanks...I've only read an excerpt from Felder's book so far, so I didn't read that part.
ah well, life is short...they were only living the dream and in their prime once. be here now.
Though, Glenn and Henley were probably smart to wait so long to tie the knot.

Long Run Don ~ not bad although I prefer his earlier look.
But this next one is my fave of the latest batches ~ that laugh is so cute.
