It was Glenn who made the comment a while back that they have been recording everything the band has done since their resumption because there was practically nothing from the seventies. Since the release of HotE we now know that that wasn't entirely true, but I don't think that they were recording everything in the seventies.
I haven't seen the documentary yet so I coulld be wrong about this.

it's possible I misunderstood him too. but since there was super 8 footage from their absolute very first show in a little room with a bunch of high people hanging out around them, I thought that made sense that maybe they did record everything.
I would also love to see all of the footage of "Spread Eagle", which is what they called their filming of Third Encore parties.

In fact, I'm going to see
The Soft Parade tomorrow night. They are a fantastic tribute band that have been around since 1991. I've seen them a bunch of times, and the guys have become friends of mine.
(sorry to digress)

Wow I saw Soft Parade back in 92 or 93! I had even forgotten about it!

wow nice! you saw them in their prime! when Joe (the singer) reeealllyy looked like Jim in Jim's prime. Now he looks like Jim if Jim had aged to his 50s. but they still sound awesome!

Just looked them up..so they are playing BB Kings tomorrow? I may just have to go to this! How much are the tickets? I forget where I saw them back in the early 90's but imagine it was in the village somewhere..
Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
I'm watching the documentary now to distract myself from the fact that I can't watch Stevie Nicks' interview on the Oprah Winfrey Network because I don't get that channel! Anyway, on this viewing, I just noticed something - they're talking about how Irving Azoff was able to talk the Bahamian border police out of searching them in 1974 and what a relief that was because "everyone was holding except Don" - including the pilot! Now, OK, I get that drugs were considered cool back then, especially for rock stars, but I can't believe they were OK with their PILOT being high!
Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
Perhaps they were so high they couldn't care? Anyway, they didn't say he was high, just that he had 'stuff' with him.
Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
Another weird thing: Don says at one point, "As my friend JD says, 'Time passes; things change.'" However, that's a lyric from his song "Who Owns This Place?" which is credited to both him and Danny Kortchmar. Did somebody get screwed out of a songwriting credit? ;)

It was just such an accepted thing back then that they probably thought it was cool if he was high! I would think he wasn't though and probably just had it with him for later!
Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
Even if The Eagles didn't care, I hope the pilot would have known enough to wait until after he was finished to do his dope. That should be Flight School 101.
