Cool, t&h!
I came across "Screaming Eagle" wine today.......from California!:):partytime:
:partytime: that's a good one:)
My Dad collects coins and I occasionally buy him a collectible from the mint. Today I got an email from the Mint in large font proclaiming the "NEW PLATINUM EAGLES HAVE ARRIVED" I got excited seeing the title until I realized it was the mint announcing a platinum coin- lol
lol! that's like when I wear my "Eagles 72" Tshirt and someone tells me "I'm an Eagles fan too" - and then I discover they mean the football team. lol
Does your Dad have one of the special 'Millennium' 50p coins released in Dublin Ireland in 1988 to celebrate the 1000th year since the city was officially founded? If not PM me and I will send him one. I have saved some but would like to see them go to a genuine collector.
Saw a film advertised on our local tv last night, The Last Ride of the Dalton Gang from 1979. Never heard of it before and the only actor I recognized from the cast was Randy Quaid. Apparently, it is a 'light hearted look' at the Dalton's and how they became horse thieves, bank robbers etc. Somehow I think that quote might explain why I never heard of it! :)
As it happened anyway it wasn't shown due to a rugby match (as it happened my local team who lost:thumbsdown:)
Still the very title reminds me of Don singing '...four rode out and only three came back...' Love his voice on that
Oh my gosh! I thought it was Randy!!!!
Oh, and talking about Randy ... here is a pet food we can find in our Italian stores ... do they sell that in the U.S. too? Just curious!

Please don't think this is 'a downer on Randy' or a criticism of him in any way.......but I can't see any resemblence there whatsoever! lol

omg CC...that cat food is a riot!!!!
I saw in Architectural Digest that Brad Pitt has designed a table & named it The Long Run Table. A limited edition of 9 signed & numbered pieces. No price given. :)
Was watching a programme last night on women artists and one of those discussed was Georgia O'Keeffe. Her skull imagery always reminds me of our boys' greatest hits album

Wow - that certainly does look like the Eagles' design!
Yep - It sure does. Those definitely remind me of our guys!
Z - this is the website: http://www.pitt-pollaro.com/index.php/home
It is the table with the crazy base.
A friend of mine sent me a photo and asked "if I had ever heard of or seen an old sugar chest". I replied back "No, never heard of one but I like these people (the seller). Notice the book right above the chest to the left - LOL!".
Sitting above the chest was "The Eagles: An American Band" by Andrew Vaughan.
HB- That is pretty awesome!
a couple of weeks ago I saw a man on the train wearing a silver suit a la Glenn.

While looking at job boards, I saw a company with the slogan "Take IT Easy". I loved the play on words/acronyms, and it made me smile, same as it does any time I hear the words or song.
I know this happens often enough... Etsy must love Glenn Frey :)

I was talking to my friend last night and she said she was going out today to the seaside. I asked her where and she said Doolin (in County Clare). It took my best effort not to counter '...they were Doolin, Doolin Dalton, high or low it was the same...'
I'm sure she would have thought me insane and have no idea what I was on about :hilarious:
Anyway, was wondering whether the Doolin Dalton gangs were of Irish descent 'cos they're both Irish names. It wouldn't surprise me - we sent a lot of reprobates to other shores!
Okay, back to reality...kind of...:)
I put this post in a wrong thread yesterday, so here it is again, in a right place this time :-)
On Polish TV there's a beer commercial. Nothing special, you could say. Well, it's a DESPERADOS beer. TEQUILA flavor. :woah:
Over the past few days I was in Philadelphia for work, so my hubby and my dad tagged along to do some sight seeing as they had never been there before.
My Hubby and my dad decided to take a tour of the mint, and of course you have to pass through a metal detector to gain entry. So my dad goes through the metal detector first- no problem.
My husband though, taking change out of his pocket etc, kept setting the metal detector off- three different times! Finally, The police officer finally asked him if he had a money clip in his pocket and lo and behold- guess what money clip he had? His Eagles money clip from the VIP gift package at Columbus show we saw last March!
I got a kick out of the story as they were telling me over dinner that night.
At least he didn't have drugs stuck down his boot like the guys in Jamaica. lol
I was watching The Hobbit and at one point eagles come down to help fly Bilbo and the gang away from danger. As they come, Bilbo cries, "Look! The eagles are here! Hooray!" I was like "Yeah, that makes me cheer, too." lol
In Stranger than Fiction, Harold Crick goes shopping for an electric guitar and Emma Thompson is doing the voice over characterization of what each guitar might say about the person playing it. The shot comes up of a double neck, and she says, "This one says 'I'm overcompensating for something, guess what it could be.'" Don't know why it made me think of the guys!
On my travels today I passed a sign that said "Frye Road". Close enough to remind me of Glenn. :)
Watching "Nashville", whenever they show a Soundcheck van, I think of the Eagles. Soundcheck is a storage and rehearsal facility in Nashville that was set up by former Eagles roadie, Bob Thompson, with backing from Glenn Frey (although they sold it some years ago). Thompson's LA facility was called "Third Encore".
Okay, bear with me on this...
I was reading a book yesterday about Lady Gregory, a well known figure in Irish literary history. Anyway, I was reading about her because she has a connection to the guy I'm researching, George Russell. So Russsell joined an organisation back in 1897 which meant he had to spend long periods of time away from home working and he was pretty miserable about it. Lady Gregory sent him a copy of Thoreau's book, Walden because it exemplified how to live life in adverse conditions. She also sent him a copy of William HENLEY'S poem, Invictus...
...I know I'm stretching it but when you're on 'Don alert' these things mean something and I got a warm little glow when I saw the names, Thoreau, Walden and Henley :)
I'll put this here since it reminded me of the Eagles almost 30 years ago...
I just finished a Facebook chat with an old friend that I haven't really talked to in years. I have Classic Rewind on, and of course, that music was popular back when this friend and I spent so much time together. We were talking about some of the songs as they came on and the memories we had of them. Heart's Magic Man came on and my friend said, "Remember that time we were at my house listening to Glenn Frey's album?"
She couldn't remember the name of the album (Don was always her favorite) and she said 'the song about all night long'. I said "Allnighter". She laughed and said, "Yeah, we were drinking and listening to that and remember you decided that Magic Man could have been written about him? The blue eyes and the getting high and that if any man would have magic hands it would be him? And I thought it would be about Henley?"
Once she said that, then I did remember it, sort of. There was always a lot of alcohol involved back then, and so heaven knows what else we may have said. Now that she reminded me of that, I'll think of Glenn every time I hear Magic Man.
VA, too funny! But......now I'm going to always think of Glenn, Magic Man, the Allnighter, and YOU when I hear it!
DD, works for me! It doesn't take much for us diehards!
Well, OK....think of me...this is just weird!
I think one of them (Heart) later said who it was written about, and it wasn't Glenn, of course. I prefer to think of it my way!
