Great photo!
HB and I were doing some shopping and came across a brand of tequila called "Hotel California." We of course bought it, and I made us some tequila sunrises! A photo of hers:

They were yummy!
love that! and very pretty Tequila Sunrise!
I just looked up this tequila, and they have a very nice website!
http://www.hotelcaliforniatequilausa.com/
the story is interesting, and one of the featured cocktails is called "Peach champagne on ice" ...close enough! haha
the hotel's website also says Welcome to Hotel California
www.hotelcalforniabaja.com
I want to stay there!
it actually seems like a very nice place, all things aside...and imitation is a form of flattery right?
Nice job on those Tequila Sunrises, Soda and HB!
This morning a tv weatherman was talking about the weather being cool for the "boys of summer" in the All Star game tonight in Minneapolis. Couldn't help but think of Mr. Henley!
ETA: Love the Tequila Sunrises, Soda! That is a gorgeous bottle too!
I wasn't sure where to put these because it's not as if I was reminded of the Eagles BY them - rather I designed them to remind my students of the Eagles, lol. Still, it's the closest we have and I didn't want to start a new topic for it.
I had them diagram the following sentences for their advanced grammar final:
(Sorry my hand-drawn diagrams are a bit messy and crooked with the lines! The students never see the answer key, though! ;) )
Pride and competition cannot fill these empty arms, and the work I put between us doesn't keep me warm.

You were trying to get away from the things you'd done.
(Note: I adjusted the lyrics a bit to get rid of the idiomatic "on the run" and diagrammed "get away" as a phrasal verb)

Wasting our time on cheap talk and wine left us so little to give.
(Note: I went with "cheap" modifying just "talk" instead of both "talk" and "wine" because I felt they wouldn't be drinking cheap wine, lol.)

Wow, it's been a long time since I've done sentence diagrams!!
It's been a long time since I wanted to do sentence diagrams. However, I do applaud the instructor's effort to make this an interesting exercise.
Thanks! I'm not sure they enjoyed it terribly much, though!
I hated that in school, but I wouldn't mind during those sentence diagrams with those lyrics. LOL
In responding in another thread, I made the comment to Freypower that she seemed to "beat the odds". As soon as I typed that, I was immediately reminded of this ...

I'm not sure I've ever done a grammar diagram!
I don't really understand what's going on there! haha
but I would be excited to see Eagles' lyrics in my assignment!
my friend was playing this game called "7 Little Words" on her iPad when this popped up!
She took a screengrab and sent it to me

Pretty cool. I've never seen that game before... I know at least one answer!
Love it!
Fleetwood Mac is the only other band I use for my classes (typically Stevie's lyrics) - although I'm sure Bono - and any other sophisticated lyricists - would work just as well!

Bobby just got this album.
Bobby said "you'd like this...he sounds like Don Henley."
The first song he played me did not have me convinced. haha
I know Don's voice too well.
But this song in particular does remind me of Boys of Summer.
they've been compared to Don Henley, Bruce Springstein, Tom Waite, Dire Straits...
anyway...from what I've heard...it is a nice airy summery 80s sounding album.
ETA: just heard another song that sounds like Young Turks by Rod Stewart
I got a brochure in the mail this week from my local Bon Secours hospital. I was going to toss it, but decided to browse through it first. Something caught my eye on page 4 - a write up about the ER titled Life in the Fast Lane. SWEET when you can turn the ER into something positive!
Speaking of Life in the Fast Lane... I was just watching an episode of Doctor Who called "Gridlock" where a couple is so desperate to get into the "fast lane" (which requires three passengers - an HOV lane essentially) that they kidnap someone! SPOILER ALERT: Turns out the fast lane is full of monsters anyway. ;)
Soda, too cool you can incorporate Eagles stuff in to work!
Don't ask me how to diagram a sentence though! It's been way too long! :fear:
I had to refresh my memory, too. I spent as many hours prepping for that class as I did teaching it. I have an instinct for grammar which has served me well as both a teacher and an editor; I just know where to put the commas and all that jazz without even thinking about it. However, when you have to actually EXPLAIN the intricacies of grammar and the logic behind the construction of the English language (which sometimes isn't so logical), it becomes a lot harder.
I had a couple occasions on our trip where I was reminded of the Eagles, Don H, and you Borderers!
Stopped for a quick lunch here in South Dakota:

and saw this sign from our tour bus:

Not a very good picture, but.....
Me again! lol
I was surprised to hear what my husband's cousin sang here:

I knew he could do the Eagles songs! I've watched this guy grow up and become an amazing singer! No, they're not the Eagles, but they are a top-notch act in Branson! He just signed on with them!
Brooke, cool reminders! Pretty cool about your cousin-in-law, too!
Love those, Brooke!
Those are cool, Brooke!
I was watching a movie tonight starring Rock Hudson & he mentioned the Dalton Gang. :)

Saw this upstate NY last weekend. The guy who ran the shop had a 'stache, nice turquoise rings, and kinda sounded like Glenn at bit! He was very charismatic too!
Sounds like my kind of place!
Very cool, t&h!
Looks like a cool store!
This morning at work I was going through my emails and saw one from ontrack, which is a health and lifestyle site for employees, and the subject line was Sugar: the real story.
I wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the Little Things that Remind you of Other Borderers thread! :D
Pm, good one! :hilarious:
Love the Desperado shop, T&H!
And PM - I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about! :lie:
Gwen Stefani's boy's swim shirt!! Where does one get one of those??!!
