I have to go find wherever I saw that, but I believe those old boots are THE boots he had when his dad was alive. Muddy Waters (or some blues guitarist) said he had bird poop on his boot and Don said it was white paint. In Nov. 2009 I saw Don in Chicago and he appeared to have new boots on. They looked like the shiny boots in the picture. When the Eagles started touring, he had the old boots back on. He's probably still breaking them in :)
