Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
In the lead up to the Glastonbury festival, I watched/skimmed a tv programme called Glastonbury Golden Greats. It made me think of Glenn, in particular.
Tony Bennett - apparently Glenn listens and sings along with Tony Bennett in the car.
Al Green - from One of These Nights through to True Love, Glenn had a fixation with Al Green - it's where all those falsettos come from.
James Brown - in 1992, Glenn had a picture of James Brown in his recording studio as inspiration. He also told a story about an encounter with JB on a TV appearance.
Brian Wilson - both Glenn and Timothy have recorded Caroline No, and clearly Glenn was influenced by The Beach Boys.
B.B. King - Don Felder saw him play when Don was a young man and Glenn played with King years later.
Kenny Rogers - this time, it's Don Henley and Shiloh.
Paul Simon - just a tenous link with that photo of Glenn and Paul Simon at a party.
(Other artists include Johnny Cash, Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, but I couldn't find a link with everyone)

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Coming home today, I heard Jackson Browne's Doctor My Eyes on the radio. I instantly thought of Glenn and JD Souther living in the apartment above Jackson, and listening to Jackson write songs. (I've heard that Doctor My Eyes was one of those songs)

The tease:
Quote:
If you are like me, you have sat around for hours on end wondering if Eagle’s like to have their belly rubbed. It turns out that the majestic creatures not only like it, they love it.
The unfortunate reality:

This could have been so much better...

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
VA - that would have been the perfect job....can you just imagine it  :partytime:

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Well I'm not VA, but I can imagine it - my mind is wandering to incredible places again.
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
VA, I laughed way too much at that :hilarious:.
I'm glasmd that the birds enjoy that, but wrong Eagles! Oh to be their masseuse(sp?). My mind is now is a good, happy place lol.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Excellent VA! And so very true! :brickwall:
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Is it wrong that I started laughing hard at that meme?. It is true, though.
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Yes, that's so true! I complain about that all the time!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
LITFL came on while we were discussing our AC trip.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
The local radio station just had a chat with a local Stockport music store. They have a list on the wall of banned songs that customers are (jokingly) not allowed to play when testing out the instruments. Stairway To Heaven, Hotel California and Wonderwall top the list.
That's quite an accomplishment for the 40 year old track from across the pond.
I don't know what they'll do if Felder pops in :hilarious:
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
:hilarious: Stairway to Heaven, no surprise there:hilarious:
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I don't know how I never noticed this before but there is a program starting on our national tv about a famous hotel in Kilarney Co. Kerry. The hotel is called "The Gleneagles" !! Wonder if that's the true Hotel California

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
A friend of mine shared this on Facebook. ( it came from Tumblr)

I'm going to bed with the song stuck in my head! :hilarious:

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Hearing Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville on the radio reminds me of the video on GFO with Jimmy and Glenn playing it at some high school in Aspen, CO.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
In celebration of my 100th post, a crazy friend sent this to me via text. It made me LOL!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
There is an article by Zoe Kleinman, on the BBC website, discussing cheap smartphones.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-33757083
CSS Insight analyst, Ben Wood , says "I've always said the iPhone is like the Hotel California of smartphones - once you're in it's difficult to leave."
Not as snappy as the actual lyric but I get the picture. :)

What a beautiful bottle/label!
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
NOLA - that is the tequila that Soda used last summer to make our Tequila Sunrises. We both bought a bottle because we thought it was a cool design and of course the name. Then I emptied the bottle and left my tequila with her so I could get it on the plane. :hilarious:
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Someone remind me to look for that tequila when I turn 21 next year, please. :drunk:

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles

Why hasn't it occurred to me to post this. There is an English comedian called Sarah Millican who is from my husband's home town, South Shields, so I tend to think of him when I see her on TV, but....

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I saw this on Fb today and it reminded me of Glenn and, in turn, Fp, since she loves this song!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Just a little while ago, I was looking at my shirts in my closet. I realized that my favorite clothing brand for shirts is American Eagle. The company's logo is an eagle, and it's on most of the shirts that I have of theirs. I'll be even more happy to wear and buy their clothing. ;)

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
After playing a Sex Pistols track, during his 70s show, DJ, Johnny Walker mentions that, you can now get a Sex Pistols credit card. That's like putting a dead head sticker on a Cadillac, he adds.
An intended reference to the iconic line from Henley's 80s hit, The Boys Of Summer.

I always loved that line!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
What a coincidence - a co-worker was telling me about his young tomboy daughter today who doesn't like to wear dresses and said "all she wants to wear is pants". Of course, that reminded me of that other awesome solo song by Mr. Henley. I didn't say anything to him, but I was all giddy on the inside.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
The suburb that I moved to here in coastal NC is an eagles' sanctuary. Every time I see one flying over my house, I think of the band. The peyote-soaked outing in the Mojave Desert comes to mind when Glenn saw the eagle soaring overhead that inspired the band's name.
One of the subdivisions is named 'Eagles Watch.' No, it's not mine, but how would you like to live there?

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
This more than a little reminder and the conversation was about the Eagles, more specifically one member in particular.
My uncle cooked a nice southern supper at his house last night for my mom, him, and myself. Given the fact they my uncle and I share super common interests in music, it's something that we talk about almost constantly. One of us brought up the Eagles and I had to talk about Glenn for a few minutes. Afterward, my uncle said " I'm going to get a shirt made for you when I have the money. It's gonna say 'I wanna be Frey'd until I die'":hilarious::rofl:
My response: Oh, I gotta post that on the Eagles forum". (I've told him about this site). It's probably the truth, too!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
LOL! What a way to go - Frey'd until you die! :hilarious:
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Yep - That's a good one, AG. All I can say is get in line!

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
Heard ELO's Turn to Stone while eating supper at Pizza Hut. Naturally, Joe's song of the same name came to mind. :)
-
Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
My uncle came up with another one. He wants to put a photo of Glenn of a t-shirt, and have this below the photo: "sorry, but I like mine Frey'd". I like his other suggestion better. When he said that, this photo popped into my head. Why, I don't know.

Re: Little things that remind you of the Eagles
I was watching a series about legendary gunslingers on the American Heroes Channel (AHC). One of the segments featured William "Bill" Doolin and the infamous Doolin-Dalton gang. Of course, the Desperado LP came to mind.
