The accent doesn't bother me. He sounds no worse than an english folk singer and I'm probably used to english bands trying to sound american.

Yeah - SALC isn't Glenn's best career move for sure, but, it was considered 'cool' to do the British accent in songs at the time it was recorded.
Dreamer, I'm not sure I agree as far as a career move. I can't see where it hindered his career at all! Maybe didn't help, but it surely didn't hold him back. For all we know, it did help.
VA - that was my lame attempt at being facetious - I didn't really mean it literally. I don't really believe it hindered his career either. He didn't really have much of a career at the time at the time he recorded it.
Dreamer, you always use the smilies when you're being sarcastic or funny, so I did wonder if you'd hit your head on something! Really, his career after singing that song kinda catapulted into territory very few others ever attained. Glad to know you still have your wits about you.
It seems like it might have been a trend at the time since the British invasion. Good thing he didn't speak with a British accent like some of the performers of today (Madonna and Johnny Depp) and yes it certainly didn't hurt his career. I wonder if he'd cringe if someone played that for him today or if he'd laugh.
oh just listened to those Mushrooms tunes!
neat to hear!
as it was already said..SALC I would never have known was Glenn singing with the accent...but it was definitely a popular sound at that time.
I dig Burned...can hear our Glenn for sure...and reminds me of the Strawberry Alarm Clock or something ..fun!
I nearly choked on air when I gasped at the unexpected sight of Glenn on this blog

it's a photo we've all seen before, but a pleasant surprise to stumble upon.
Always fun to see those!
I like this short interview from 2012 - still getting up early to exercise and not wanting to be hypocritical with his kids.
