Not sure about Bernie, but Glenn and Randy are wearing those famous gold Eagle medallions the original guys wore in many of their publicity photos and even at live appearances. Each had an image of an eagle on the front, and the name of the band member to whom it belonged on the back. Only four were made, then the mold was broken. I believe they were Glyn Johns' idea.
Here are a couple shots where you can see them:

cool, know where i could order one or get one made? i wish there was a close up of one
And wouldn't it be cool to know where the originals are now? I wonder if the guys still have them safely tucked away somewhere. Anyone ever hear?
I was wondering the same thing, Willie. It would be awesome to hear the background story about them from the guys.
Well, as Soda said, since there were only four made, I would think they were/are pretty coveted pieces. I wouldn't be surprised if they all still had them, although Bernie didn't appear to wear his as often as the others back in the day. Glenn and Don wore their's up until sometimes in the late 70's. Here's some of the last pictures that I remember seeing of them with it. Glenn apparently wore his a little later than Don. I wonder if their demise was symbolic of the band's???

i wanna get one made. these two are the only close ups i could find but i cant make out the eagle on it
I had never heard this before! Boy, ya never know what you're going to learn on The Border!
PM, I was just going to say the same thing. Not only had I never heard anything about these madallions, I never even noticed them! I'm gonna tuck this piece of trivia in my pocket. :)
I imagine they all still have theirs, unless they threw them away in a fit of rage!
Randy is confirmed to still have his - he told To the Limit author Marc Shapiro that it was "proof that [he] was an original Eagle."
I think when Glenn and Don stopped wearing them it was indicative of the crumbling of the band - and perhaps of the fact that wearing gold chains was going out of style. lol
I don't think Randy needs to 'prove' that to anyone. He was a very valuable member at the time and is certainly the voice of the original 'Take it To The Limit'
did they talk about the medallions in To The Limit?
Yep, that's where I read about them.
i cant seem to find the part in the book where they talk bout it lol
yeah found it lol.
funny I just posted this in the Frey Fever thread...you can see it pretty clearly here...especially when you zoom in
and I had just been looking for something like it on ebay or etsy haha, but I guess I won't find the originals

Thanks for finding that, T&H. This is probably the best shot I've ever seen of the medallion. Anyone ever heard or seen what the back of the medallion had on it? Maybe an inscription or another image like the back of a coin? I would suspect it would have been personalized for Bernie, Don, Glenn, and Randy in some way - must have had something unique since there were only the four of them made.
I just remembered something. I don't remember if it was during the HFO tour or current that their was a picture of Glenn wearing a necklace and we didn't know what it was. Anybody remember that picture?
We used to think that he wore a necklace to alert people to his medical condition. But in HOTE we were able to see that his necklace has a cross. Look closely at his T shirt. You can just see the chain on his neck (on the right).

Thanks FP. I remembered reading about that. So their is a picture of what I'm talking about. Too bad I don't remember which thread it was in.
I didn't know notice Glenn wearing a cross in HOTE and you can see it through his tshirt. How could I miss that. As much as I watched the documentary, I never notice the necklace.
ohhh here's another good one!

Troub posted this in the Henley Heaven thread!
Those necklaces are so cool. Wonder what they did with them? When we talked about this before, we noted that they stopped wearing them around 1978.
They would be a cool thing to have to replicas of to sell now along with the other merchandise. I'd buy one!
And yes, I'm going to have to watch HotE again! I missed Glenn's cross necklace! How did that happen?!
