Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
Well I end up not having the surgery. My blood pressure was too high to operate and they want me to go on blood pressure pills to control. So I have to wait until my blood pressure is controlled before I can have the surgery. It might be until next month.

Well other than my eye surgery got postponed. I'm getting promoted at my job. I'll be an Emergency Management Specialist I for the Office of Response for my state's emergency agency.
The guy called me down to this office this morning and told me I had the job. I'll be making $10,000 more than what I'm making now. No more being an Administrative Assistant.

That's awesome! Congrats. So are you like OES (Office of Emergency Services, California's department), handling statewide crises like floods and tornadoes?

Yes. That sounds about right. We deal with tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, train wreck. We have 82 county Emergency Offices across the state, but I work at the main office.

Re: What's Happening In Your Life?
Hi everyone. I apologize for disappearing yet again. My health took a huge nosedive around mid-March, and it hasn't recovered. The tooth infection came back and just took over my whole face. I ended up having major oral surgery and had 14 teeth removed at once at the end of March. I just lost another one on Thursday and all of my teeth will be gone by mid-May. I'm currently in the process of having dentures made. The infection is still present, but is somewhat under control. I'm hoping to keep the remaining few teeth until the dentures are ready, but that may not be possible. Somehow, the oral surgeon missed one of my back molars. It's become infected, but I can't get it out until May 10th. I'm just in shock that the infection got really bad really fast and that, at the age of 25, I've lost of my teeth. The amount of pain that I've dealt with these past few months is crazy.
On top of this, the infection spread to my lungs. I managed to catch it before it became pneumonia, but fighting bronchitis and recovering from oral surgery is not fun. Don't even get me started on the side effects of the antibiotics. On the up side, I've now had both of my covid-19 shots.
As for college, I won't be graduating until Summer. I'll walk in May, though. All of my professors offered me incompletes in all 5 of my courses, and I took them (My department head knows what's happening and has given his approval). I'll have until the end of June to finish my regular classes and until the end July for my internship. I've missed more classes than I've attended this semester. For the last 4 weeks of the semester, I've been told to show if I feel up to it, and if I can get some quality work done, great. If not, grab a good book and read or watch some educational videos and just rest. I've been sent home more than once for attempting to attend classes while in misery. I shrugged off the pain from the extraction on Thursday and attended two classes less than 30 minutes after having it done (the dentist office is literally 5 minutes away from my college). Maybe I'm pushing myself too hard, but I feel so bad about missing class after class. (I haven't stepped foot in my 9:30am class in nearly a month).
As for my future and grad school, that's something to work on in the fall. I'll probably have an Achilles tendon lengthening surgery done around August, and after that and once I get used to the dentures, I'll get my life back together. The only upside to this whole issue has been in showing me just how for human kindness goes. From my amazing professors, who truly care, to the dentists and oral surgeons, who have and are doing this work Pro Bono, I can't believe the kindness people have shown me.

Shun - Congrats on your promotion!
AG95 - Sorry to hear about your health issues. Sounds like you’ve been having a tough time. I hope your surgery goes well. It’s wonderful you have been getting such great support. Good luck with everything.

Wow, AG... that's a lot to deal with. So sorry to hear that you've gone through so much. Take care!
