    Default Eagles coming to Saskatoon?

I just found this... looks like the Eagles might be coming to Saskatoon Saskachewan, Canada. I guess we'll find out on Monday

Major concert announcement on Monday; the Eagles expected to land
By Cam Fuller December 7, 2008 6:01 PM

The secret will be out Monday morning but it looks like it’s the Eagles who are landing in Saskatoon for a concert in 2009.
Credit Union Centre has invited media to a press conference at 10 a.m. “for the unveiling of Saskatoon’s biggest concert announcement!”
Three hints are given in the invitation. It’s “one of the best selling bands of all time.’’ It’s “an artist that has never performed in Saskatchewan.” And it’s “an artist that has charted on Rock, Pop, & Country Charts.”
The process of elimination takes out The Rolling Stones, who’ve already been in the province, and U2 are not known to be touring.
Scott Ford, marketing and events manager at Credit Union Centre, wasn’t hiding his lying eyes — he wasn’t saying anything at all.
“I can’t. You’ll have to show up on Monday and we’ll give you the whole package,’’ he said.
Ford said several acts fit the hint-list such as Bruce Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac. But the “country charts’’ connection in both cases isn’t compelling.
The Eagles, on the other hand, are number 34 on CMT’s 40 Greatest Men of Country Music, in a class with Alabama (No. 11), Flatt & Scruggs (No. 24) and Brooks & Dunn (No. 25). They picked up their fifth and most recent Grammy this year for best country performance by a duo or group with vocal for the song How Long from their latest album Long Road to Eden.
No tour dates are listed on the Eagles’ website from the end of January to the end of May — perfect for an early spring tour before the band heads to Europe in the summer.
If it is the Eagles, Saskatoon will be getting a band that broke up “permanently’’ in 1980. That ended in April of 1994, followed by the album Hell Freezes Over.
The Eagles is certainly a big seller. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 was named the best selling album of that century. Hotel California was also one of the top-10 best selling albums of the century.
The band’s current lineup features Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Welsh and Timothy B. Schmit. They’re famous for the songs Hotel California, Peaceful Easy Feeling, New Kid in Town, Heartache Tonight and The Long Run.
Asked if the announcement was indeed for the Eagles, Ford said “I can’t confirm or deny that.’’

Hmm - Joe's site lists two dates here, but only one is listed on Ticketmaster (March 10). I wonder if they're doing one or two?

ETA: Both are on Ticketmaster now.

The Eagles -- twice as nice

Top-selling band doing two shows in Saskatoon, March 10, 11

The band behind One of These Nights will be playing two of those nights in Saskatoon, Tuesday, March 10, and Wednesday, March 11.
The Eagles is being promoted as the biggest concert in the history of Credit Union Centre.
"We have confirmed one of the biggest bands in the world -- the Eagles," a beaming Scott Ford, the venue's marketing and events manager, said Monday.

"It's a triple-A artist that does not only arena shows but stadium shows and they do sell out stadiums."
It will be only the third double-nighter in the 20-year history of the building, after Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. The band -- Glen Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit -- has never played in Saskatchewan.
During the years, it's been one of the most-requested names at Credit Union Centre.
By request of the band, ticket prices have all of the extra charges included. They cost $99.50, $159.50 and $199.50. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 938-7800 or 1-800-970-7328.
They will also be on sale at the Credit Union Centre box office. About 28,000 in total will be available.
Another Eagles hit is Already Gone. That will be the case for tickets if buyers don't move fast when they get onto the Ticketmaster website.
"Make a quick purchasing decision. Every second counts," said Ford.
Elton John's three Saskatchewan shows, some 26,000 tickets, sold out in under 10 minutes. Bon Jovi took 15 minutes and both Tim McGraw-Faith Hill and Cher sold out in less than 20 minutes.
If buyers want to take it to the limit, there's a maximum of eight tickets per purchaser. If more than eight are charged to one credit card, those tickets will be revoked. There isn't much else that can be done to thwart profiteers, said Ford.
"I don't know if you can eliminate scalping completely."
The big payday for the Eagles will be matched by a windfall for local hotels and restaurants, with spinoffs in the millions, Ford said.
"When we have a sold-out concert in the building, every single hotel room in the city is full." (Not just Hotel California, in other words).
As it happens, there's a Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities convention during the same week, so rooms will definitely be in demand.
The Eagles will be touring with the band's latest album, Long Road Out of Eden, which debuted at No. 1 on Oct. 20 and went on to win a Grammy award.
The band has sold an estimated 120 million albums worldwide. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is the bestselling album of all time.
The concert itself will be all-Eagles -- no warm-up band -- with two sets featuring the band's songs and the solo hits of the members. The band's technical standards for its live show are high, says Ford, who had a chance to see the Eagles perform recently.
"It's all about perfection. The sound has to be perfect. The lighting has to be perfect.
"It's a phenomenal show. It is, without question, one of the greatest shows you'll ever see."
With Brad Paisley and Nickelback already announced, Credit Union Centre is having no trouble holding on to its Pollstar designation as the 44th busiest arena in the world.

FYI The reason the ticket prices look like they are more is because those prices are in canadian dollars. With the exchange rate being 1.00 Candian dollar= 79 cents US it makes the ticket prices look larger. lol
