Happy Birthday Desperado!!
Happy Birthday Desperado!!
Oh they tell me there is a place over younder cool water running through the burning sand until we learn to love one another we will never reach the promised land. Hole In The World 2001
When I first heard "Tequila Sunrise's" extra verse, I immediately thought of the Byrds "Tulsa County" from their Ballad Of Easy Rider album.
OMG - I hadn't watched that Tequila Sunrise clip for a long time so I had forgotten how incredibly smokin', freakin' HS&G Glenn is in it.
WARNING FREY FANS: Use extreme caution when viewing this video. This sucker could possibly melt your eyeballs!!!

OMG! That was gorgeous! I'd forgotten about it, too!
I love that last verse. I wonder why it was dropped?
At the very beginning, Don keeps looking over at Glenn and I can just hear him thinking "what's he doing singing so good?!"
"They will never forget you 'till somebody new comes along"
1948-2016 Gone but not forgotten
He also does that in both the HFO and Christchurch versions of the songs - a great 'warm & fuzzy' moment. In the F1 version at the end he gives Glenn a big smile.
Thanks, OMG, what a great video, I've never seen it before!
"For the record, we never broke up, we just took a 14-year vacation!"
(Glenn Frey)
I've been listening to this album (cd) all week long and bits and pieces of the lyrics of several of the songs are stuck in my head now. This morning I was half awake when the alarm went off and Desperado was playing when it did. I had to lay there for a few seconds to decide whether that was in my mind or the actual radio! I thought OMG!
And ya know, I don't know if I've ever heard Desperado play on the radio before!

Well, Desperado week is over, but I had to post these last two songs at the last minute here:

In this next video, Glenn expands upon the concept of the Desperado album they "just got done doing" including his wisdom that, like robbing banks, the guys can't play rock'n'roll for very long and get away with it....

Thanks for all those great videos, Soda. Just love Glenn's intro in the "Saturday Night" video. He is so articulate in describing how they "just got done doing it" That clip is from the 1973 Holland show. Also though I'd mention that Soda has this entire show available for download on the EOC site. It is definitely worth watching if you've never seen it, and features a rare early performance of "How Long". Here is the link if for anyone that wants to take a look ...
