Someone posted The Long Run album on to YouTube. So get it while it's hot! I know eventually it will be taken down, and since i don't personally own that record, I'm gonna to listen to this as much as possible.

Happy Belated 42nd Birthday to the Long Run album this past Friday.

    Brothers for life. RIP Glenn

I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some." -Don Henley

I don't quite get why this album STILL has to be compared to the previous album. I get it that they were under pressure, yes, but it contains as many classics that had/has to be in the live set as the previous albums, doesn't it? Plus there are great "album cuts" like King Of Hollywood and Sad Cafe.
And every album doesn't have to be a perfect, flawless package.

I'm not referring to fans now, but the guys who made it seem to have been putting it down ever since.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO THE LONG RUN!!!

I'm very late with this, but I've had company for the last two weeks and haven't had hardly any board time. I agree this album is underrated - although it is a bit more uneven than some of their previous work, most of the songs I rate very good to excellent.

Since the album was a low point for the band, my guess is that they may still have some bad memories of their experiences recording it.

Happy 45th Birthday to the Long One. Oops. I meant the The Long Run.

Not a favorite, but some great songs, nonetheless! Happy Birthday, "The Long Run"!

As lop sided as The Long Run is, it is a strong album considering all of the inner turmoil in the band at the time and also the immeasurable pressure of trying to live up to Hotel California. In my mind we got 4 great songs from it that are staples of the band - Heartache Tonight, In The City, I Can't Tell You Why, and The Long Run title track. I also really like Those Shoes. I will also admit to liking the guitar riff on Teenage Jail, lol.

    Happy 45th!

A lot of people say that "Teenage Jail" was their worst song, but I disagree. Maybe because I was in high school at the time, and I always thought it was so funny!(Not sure if it was supposed to be). Very cool 30yr old men singing, School is such a drag, man! lol!
