Meanwhile, my brain has just started to function.
I knew that somewhere there was a collection of banners/signatures and avatars - if you click on the individual online.com links at the bottom of the page, each (ex-)band member has a 'downloads' section which includes banners/signatures/avatars.

ETA: Maleah hasn't been around the Border for some time, so don't all rush to ask her for personal banners at the moment. I'm sure one of the mods will confirm if she is likely to be able to deal with requests.

Got to say, I've belonged to boards like this before but never had an avatar. It's brilliant! It makes me feel happy just to see mine and think that his pretty face is associated with me somehow.

I would like to add an avitar to my profile, but I want to follow proper board etiquette! I'm assuming it is bad form to use the same one as someone else? If I haven't seen one on here for a while, can I assume that no one is using it? I want to figure that out before I attempt to add one to my name. Thanks!

tjh, it is indeed bad form - and confusing! - to use an avatar that someone else is using. However, if they haven't posted in quite a while (say, 6 months) I say it's up for grabs. The members list shows avatars if you want to be extra certain.
