My mother is profoundly deaf from a progressively degenerative nerve disease that started in her early teens. Fortunately, she can afford the digital aid that allows her to hear at about 60% out of one ear. The other ear is beyond help, but if she needed it and could not afford it, the Starkey Foundation would provide her monetary and medical help as well as community support. They make a global contribution to the hearing impaired and should be lauded for their efforts.
Imagine your life if you were unable to hear and enjoy music. I'm grateful every day that I can and I count my blessings.
