    Thanks for the links NightMistBlue.

A while ago I found a review of an early Pogo (Poco) live show. The reviewer singled out, bassist Randy Meisner, singing Anyway Bye Bye, as the shows undoubted highlight. I suppose it would have been on Poco's first album.

Poco, later released it with writer, Ritchie Furay on lead vocals. Randy released a cover of it, a decade or so after that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9B6mYyuhuXE

I wonder if there's a version out there somewhere, of Randy singing Anyway Bye Bye with Poco.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could find a recording of a Pogo/Poco show at the Troubadour? Randy has one; he said he listened to it before recording that version you linked to.

Do you recall where you found the early review that you read?

The page opposite Randy's artwork has a nice bio, and a lovely photo of Randy with one of his beloved chihuahuas

In the "1978 live concert" thread, I asked about the 20-30 songs I thought Randy had written with a friend. Well, I found the source!

Around this time, Meisner received a phone call from Steve Edwards, a guitarist who had played on Randy Meisner. "He wanted to get together and start writing," Randy recalls. "But I wasn't ready to go back to LA. I'd just bought a little house in Nebraska, so Steve moved out here and we ended up writing about 26 songs. They were real R&B-oriented, because we both liked that style, but the songs just weren't me."

(I believe BAM stands for "Bay Area Magazine")

    Cool!! Very interesting. Thanks, D.

I "spoke" to a woman online who says she lived next door to guitarist Steve Edwards in San Diego when he was collaborating with Randy. She thought it was the early 80s. She said Randy would ride up in a limo late at night, about 1:30. She was a teenager at the time. She got up the nerve to knock on the door one night and had Randy sign an album for her. She said (as everyone does) that he was very nice and polite.

A couple of things sound hinky about her story BUT then again, who would think to make up a story involving a long-forgotten side man? His name was so unfamiliar to me, I had to check the first album's liner notes.

Wow, what a neat thing to happen to her! Imagine talking to Randy back then after hours...anyway, it does seem like a long drive to San Diego that late at night. Unless he was coming from his home in Palm Springs instead of L.A.

NMB, you run your own detective agency, don't you? Maybe you can find out what happened to those 26 songs! Lol

There's nothing I'd love more than to be a music detective - wouldn't that be a cool job? Someone should invent such a position.

I absolutely know you'd be the best, NMB! Great idea, D! But you seem pretty good at this, too, D! Maybe you could be a team, like Cagney and Lacy!

Thank you, LT. That would be fun! I'll be Cagney, or whoever was the smart aleck.
