Sorry in advance for the wall of text, I just get so excited about these people! I live in the Milwaukee area so the drive to Green Bay took about two hours. We killed a little time by getting dinner and doing a little shopping, and then we went and parked (at Lambeau Field!!!) and picked up our tickets. We got all signed in, given the commemorative tickets which are amazing, and then we got on the floor. I thought 13 rows back would be pretty far back, but WOW. They were GREAT seats! No one ended up sitting in the row in front of us either, so the view was pretty darn great. The phone policy was pretty severely enacted, but I managed to check Facebook a couple times and post one crap-quality photo of the stage to Instagram. And then all of a sudden the house lights went out and Don and Glenn came out and did their fist bump, along with Saturday Night. Cue screaming, uncontrollable giggling, and shaky limbs. (I probably acted like most teenage girls would at a One Direction concert, but hey, these guys ARE my One Direction, so give me this moment people!)
The entire show was AWESOME. All of the guys sounded great and looked great as well - same clothes as the other shows. Personal highlights for me:
-The new Witchy Woman arrangement is so great, oh my goodness.
-The DD/Desperado Reprise never fails to blow me away live.
-Glenn did Plaintiff before Lyin’ Eyes and my sister and I rolled our eyes so hard. The other usual jokes made appearances as well.
-I thought I’d get through Pretty Maids without crying, but they got to the “ooh” interlude at the end of the song, and there were pictures of small children frolicking through cornfields and watching fireworks and all that, and I lost it because sometimes I’d give anything to go back to being a little kid running around without a care. Plus that song was one of the first Eagles songs I ever heard, so that made things even more emotional.
-Tim did this thing before ICTYW where they lit up different sections of the audience so “we can see your beautiful faces”. It was cute. I had to cheer for the people in the nosebleeds because that’s where I was 11 years ago!
-These two rambunctious and possibly intoxicated ladies decided to “seat-hop” into the empty row in front of us. They were being quite loud and distracting from the show, so the guy sitting next to my sister attempted to get them out because they most definitely had not paid $450 for those seats. The guy next to us and the ladies got into a verbal squabble, including f-bombs and one of the ladies pulling the “I have breast cancer” card. Seriously. It’s a terrible thing, of course, but that doesn’t give people a free pass to be rude! An usher came to escort them away during NKIT, and we were pleased.
-Heartache Tonight’s intro is still so great. I love it!
-I continue to be blown away by Joe’s solo after In The City. Crowd went wild when he really got into it.
-Band intros were the usual. I screamed “I LOVE YOU DON HENLEY” in a semi-quiet moment, haha. Tim seemed to get a LOT of love from the GB crowd.
-Don seemed quite happy during Long Run. I was pointing at him and singing at him and all sorts of cheesy stuff. I can only hope he noticed.
-Hotel California remains one of the greatest songs of all time.
-During Rocky Mountain Way, Joe cued us to sing the “time to change the batter” line, so me and my sister jumped up on our chairs and screamed it. The people around us looked at us funny, but they found it amusing, I suppose!
-Don’s voice was ON POINT during Desperado. So beautiful. Gosh I love that guy. I also have to shout out to the lighting designers here. The single light being on Don was great enough, but then the rest of the guys being lit when the backing vocals came in was just beautiful. I wish I could’ve taken a picture. I ended up telling the light/sound techs that they did a great job as we walked past the booth on the way out!
When the guys left the stage, we stood on our chairs again briefly. I waved, blew kisses, and made little hearts with my hands at them… and I’m pretty sure Glenn and Don noticed. I got a couple nods from them, so my life is complete basically.
So there it is. Another fantastic Eagles concert in the books. Round Four was a great time and I can’t wait til Round Five… eventually!
Oh yeah, and we almost hit a deer. But we’re okay!
