Delilah, you are so smart it's getting scary!

How did you learn that The Poor appeared in an episode of the show at #1? IMDB says the famous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee appeared in that episode. Maybe The Poor were her band.

And what's this unknown tv show in July 1981?

Sorry to pepper you with questions. I'm always searching for answers, that's what it is.

Thank you for your kindness. I don't mind the questions.

I read about #1 in a FB post by Jennifer Meisner on one of Randy's fan pages. There are several episodes from The Name of the Game on YT but this isn't one of them unfortunately. The show has a FB page as well and the admin there said this particular episode wasn't available unless there was a fan recording of it somewhere.

If you click the on that Reelin in the Years link and search for "Randy Meisner" you can see the page that lists the tv footage they have of him, including the songs performed. However, the show titles are omitted; I figured out one of them was Merv Griffin going by the date. It appears that this production company holds the copyrights to these segments so they are not available to the public and are just sitting on the shelf where no one can enjoy them.

That totally sucks. What a waste.

P.S. I saw a bootleg DVD of "Name of the Game" which has 52 episodes. I don't trust it though. It doesn't give the episode titles and it seems like it would be the wrong region anyway.

P.S. I wonder how many songs Rick Nelson did on the Glen Campbell Show episode of 12/10/1969 (the day after Randy recorded his bass parts on James Taylor's Sweet Baby James album).

Rick and Glen did a duet without the band

That's a keen observation, NMB. Here's Rick performing "She Belongs to Me" with no band in sight. He has no mike either so he must be lip-syncing to a backing track. I guess the band didn't actually perform after all.

Could this be legit? This site claims you can download episodes of The Name of the Game: https://www.ovguide.com/tv_season/th...season-1-77546

Did you try the app yet, NMB? It only received a 2-star review. The complaints I read said it directs you to a webpage that supposed to show the video. Sometimes it's the whole movie, other times it's only clips. I'm thinking it's not going to show the episode we want.

I'm skittish about downloading things from unfamiliar web sites, but I'll poke around a bit more and read the reviews of the site (which I hadn't seen, thanks!).

Shout Factory was planning to release a DVD of the first season of the series, but decided there wasn't enough interest to justify the expense. Bummer
