It really is fascinating listening to him talk about the different parts, and keys and all this stuff I never think of... and love hearing each of his and Joe's parts separately...really cool...can't imagine writing something like that...genius...makes me wish I could play the guitar!

That's a capo. Allows you to play the same chords in a song but have the key change. So essentially, the Hotel intro is an E minor chord, but "clamped" at the 7th fret makes it sound like it's a B minor chord.
