Building The Perfect Beast 40th Anniversary Remaster
Just saw on DH's Instagram (imagine that LOL!) they are remastering BTPB for the 40th anniversary and putting on vinyl as a 2 LP collection. Also there is a remastered The Boys Of Summer out now on the streaming platforms. This is my favorite of Don's. I know a lot of people preferred the stripped back rootsy vibes of TEOTI but for me as an 80s nut this is my jam synths and all!

Re: Building The Perfect Beast 40th Anniversary Remaster
So I had some time to listen to the remastered digital streaming version of The Boys Of Summer. It's the only remastered track that you can listen to right now but when the vinyl is released, the rest of the remaster will be out on the streaming platforms. I recently made the switch from Spotify to Apple Music and at least on there, you have to be sure to select the right BTPB "album" the one with the new remaster has only TBOS and the rest are there but are greyed out. Then you know you are getting the new remastered version. I assume it's the same on Spotify so be sure you are on the right one before you judge it and think it's the same.
Listening to it and then following it up with the version that's been online forever - there is definitely a difference if you are listening with headphones. I was pleasantly surprised.
I'm not sure why this remaster is only vinyl and streaming but I think it goes to show that CD is a dead format. The two extremes are now the standard. You want convenience - streaming. You want a listening experience - vinyl. No cars have CD players anymore, neither do laptops. I think CD's will eventually quit being made. I think vinyl has taken over and largely the "hipster" crowd is bringing it back.
Heck, even Walmart sells new vinyl now which is crazy. They won't sell CD's and barely carry any DVDs or Blurays but yet my local Walmart has a healthy selection of newly pressed vinyl of both old and new artists. Personally I like the old vinyl better because it just feels right. I like new vinyl for new music. If I'm buying vinyl of artists of yesteryear - I want the pressings from around the time the album was first released.
Keeping with that school of thought I probably won't get this new vinyl but I'll be glad when the whole remastered album is out for streaming!

Re: Building The Perfect Beast 40th Anniversary Remaster
I recall in 2013 viewing an episode of VH1's That Metal Show hosted by Eddie Trunk.
The guest appearances are Steve Whiteman and Brian Forsythe of Kix and Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult.
They participated in a segment called 'Put It On The Table' (which can be viewed here) and the following answers below which stand out pertain to Buck.
If you could play in any other band, what would it be? The Grateful Dead
What's the one song you wish you wrote? The Boys of Summer
See the Don Henley 'The Boys of Summer' song connection coincidentally?
