There is no more new frontier - we have got to make it here
Here's the middle part of the press conference

Open up your eyes take the devil from your mind
What a wasted opportunity.
I know they had to do the translation but the whole thing was so awkward & the questions were so inane & some were repeated. All that stuff about trying to get them to say 'hello'... really. I did like it when they asked Don the HC question & he looked at Glenn to make sure he could answer & then gave Glenn a lyrics credit. I have rarely seen Glenn look so..... well....
..OMG..THAT WAS HILARIOUS....poor things...they couldn't wait to get outta there...
Don and Glenn keep whispering to each other like naughty students. lol
It wasn't all bad. I loved this bit when they are asked about keeping in "best shape":
Don: "There's a great gym in this hotel and I will be in it as soon as we're done."
Glenn: 'There's a great BED in my room and I will be in it as soon as we're done!"
And Glenn saves the day (after politely raising his hand) and shows how the "aspiring musician" question should have been answered the first time. Happily everyone follows his lead and Don redeems himself by emphasizing the music this time. That's more like it! (I wonder if Glenn was thinking of Jack Tempchin when describing friends playing clubs in San Diego? Tempchin does that regularly).
What brought on that dig about a reporter being from a teen magazine? Was there some question we didn't hear, or was Don just unhappy about having to recite words in Chinese?
I laughed, but a lot of that was absolutely excruciating to watch! I can only imagine how they felt!
Perhaps they (by which I mean Glenn) should have made more of an effort to be patient and not show displeasure so openly; but here we had one of the biggest rock bands ever being treated like a boy band with only one hit; and a local media that either couldn't be bothered to do any research or didn't have the resources to do so. I wanted to hear the band members talk; the longer the translation segments went the more excruciating it became.
Also with all the 'say hello in Chinese' and 'face this way' stuff; if Glenn Frey is going to be told what to do I think he has the right to expect that he will be treated like an adult. Having said that I enjoyed the 'bed' comment as well. He really had to force himself there.
OMG... those videos have made my night. Absolutely friggin' hilarious!
You're right, Nanc - they were like schoolboys in parts (which is why I enjoyed it so much.) I actually think Don was the worst! Joe and Tim were really sweet and respectful. Glenn was somewhere in the middle... I sort of felt for the translator a bit, but I can understand why the guys found it equally boring and amusing. I loved the bit when Don was listening out for the translation of what he'd said and, in the middle of all the stuff that he didn't understand, he heard the words "Don" and "tangerine". LOL!
There were other moments that cracked me up, but typically I can't remember them now! Just way too funny...
Now, for the most important question (I'll count hands): Who is going to the gym with Don, and who is going back to bed with Glenn?![]()
you better put it all behind you, baby, 'cause life goes on
you keep carrying that anger, it'll eat you up inside--
Guess which one.
I wish that I had found it hilarious; I found it a complete waste of the band's time.
