I find the same phrases keep cropping up in interviews. I've just been listening to a slightly older interview with Timothy and he says much the same thing about the difference between Poco and the Eagles being that "well-crafted radio songs".

When Glenn says "the whole band got sober," I take that to mean what he said in the doc - no drugs or alcohol during band activities. Not to put words in his mouth or try to distort a pretty straightforward statement, but I don't think "sober" for the others means what it means for Joe - i.e. completely abstaining forever. They are not stoned, coked-up, drunk out of their minds, having wild parties on tour, but I doubt this means the others don't still consume alcohol - have wine with dinner, beer on the beach, whatever. Or, maybe they are all "recovering" like Joe, but I haven't read anything about that in their individual interviews, profiles, etc...

This is the way I interpret it.

You know, MC. I always wondered about that too. It didn't seem like the others were still on drugs. Glenn was already clean for some years. I don't know about Don H or Timothy. I think Don F was clean before they got back together. Joe was on the brim of dying early if he kept up with the drugs and alcohol.

That's interesting about Timothy's statement. I think that's the first time I ever read about his opinion in Poco and why they weren't making it big like the Eagles.

In a 1992 interview, Glenn said this about Don H
We haven't taken the same path - he still lives the LA rock'n'roll lifestyle and I don't.

Interesting article. I guess it was timing again. Like we said for Don and Glenn meeting and finding each other in the 70s to form the Eagles.

Thank goodness his attitude change 2 years later so the reunion could happen, but I can understand what Glenn was saying. He was clean and everybody else was still living the life they did in the 70s.

The guys are going strong almost 20 years now and I don't think they still hate each other. Nah. I think they have all now made peace with each other especially Don and Glenn. They enjoy working with each other again.

All I can add is they certainly seem to enjoy being together, playing, and doing this tour. More so than even the LROOE tour, to me. They really seem to be having fun now. Or so it looked in St. Louis.

I agree Brooke. I prefer to believe that the present band members now all have a healthy respect and appreciation for one another at this point in their lives. Even if they still have differences, I think they are all probably much more mature in dealing with issues now than they once were.

I absolutely agree with you about this MC. After the resumption, they abstained from drugs and alcohol during band activities out of respect for Joe's sobriety. I can tell you for sure, that I have observed Glenn partaking in the consumption of hops, vino, and spirits.

[QUOTE=UndertheWire;257336]Discalimers: This may already have been posted, it doesn't really say anything new and it may only be available for UK listeners...

    - Timothy describes being in Poco travelling to the next college gig and not being able to get "Take it Easy" off the radio

I wonder what Timothy would have thought if you told him back then that in about 6 years time, he would be singing Take it Easy, and even the favorite line, "...standin on a corner in Winslow, Arizona...", for the rest of his life!!!!

I am very intrigued by Timothy's transition into the Eagles. How long did it take him to learn the bass lines in all of the songs they were playing on tour? Did he already know them? Did he try singing TITTL and TALA, or had they decided he wouldn't even try to do any Randy songs? Did he not want to sing Randy songs, or did Glenn and Don think it best that he not, since those songs were so iconically Randy? Neither Felder nor Walsh actually replaced any member of the Eagles - they were add ons. Timothy is the only one who replaced a departing member. How did he stand the pressure and expectations, from inside and outside the band??? They were the biggest band in the world!! I think that inside that sweet demeanor lies a tough cookie.

This probably isn't the right thread for these musings, sorry. It followed on from that radio interview.

I maybe wrong, but I thought Joe replace Bernie?
