See Koala's post concerning February 1. Three things of interest to Soda occurred: Fleetwood Mac's first album was released, Rumours went to Number One and Glenn appeared in Miami Vice.

Shortly after takeoff, the plane crashes eight miles northwest of the airfield, killing Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson (a.k.a. The Big Bopper) and pilot Roger Peterson.

1973 Elton John's "Crocodile Rock" hits #1. It is the first of a half dozen chart-topping singles for John over the next three years.

1979-Ace Frehley of Kiss hits #13 with his solo song New York Groove.

(as much as I dislike Kiss--I loved this song and bought Ace's album.)
