Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"

Watching it again now. Anyone else notice in the beginning (about nine minutes into it) when they're talking a little bit about it starting to go wrong, they show the guys giving a bow. It's at the 1977 DC concert, but they're playing the audio from the end of Long Night at Wrong Beach? The back and forth between Glenn and Felder? I noticed it before and meant to mention it. Talk about 'poetic license'... Especially when they have footage from that night, even if it's not perfect. Since the '77 concert will have eight songs released in the DVD, how many people will be watching it and think..."hard to believe at the end of this concert they said the things they said" Stuff like this drives me crazy...

I think they were overlaying that audio over the 1977 concert when they were taking their bows as foreshadowing - ie, here they are at their height but it wouldn't be long before it all fell apart. The viewer is supposed to put that together two hours later at the end of Part 1 when they talk about Long Beach... but I think you're right that a lot of people who aren't watching carefully - and don't already know the tale as we do - will get confused.

This past weekend, I actually had a chance to watch the documentary for the first time by myself where I could really focus in on it. I definitely need to watch it a few more times so I don't miss anything though.

So based on frey because felder heldout he is the only "asshole in the band"? So you either agree with Frey that he deserves more money or he labels you an asshole. Anyone that thinks frey isnt a little to egotistical is mistaken.

OM - I'm not trying to be snarky, but it's these kinds of comments that I just don't get. First of all, none of us are authorities on the subject, but I do think you should have your facts straight if you are going to tell others that they are mistaken. There wasn't any one isolated incident that caused Glenn to conclude that Felder was an 'asshole' - there were many things over many years. I'm not saying that Glenn doesn't have an ego, but I think Felder's matches his. You can look at his interview in the documentary and think he was humble, but I assure you he hasn't always came across like that. If you go back and check out many of his past interviews, he has said some pretty ugly things about all the members in the band from time to time. I don't think it's fair to judge either Felder or Frey as men based on this single documentary.

Thanks. I don't think anyone could read that dialog next to the screenshots and still doubt it was a reenactment.

Why did he do it as a reenactment? He was probably asked to do it that way for dramatic purposes. "What exactly did you say to him?"

To me he definitely seems proud of the way he handled Felder, but that can't be proven. Everybody has to decide that for themselves, it's only my perception. As soon as the reenactment is over he sits back calmly and states that Felder then signed the papers and they toured.

The bass players were never alpha but what's interesting to me is that Joe calls himself an alpha but he never seems to want to take a leadership role in the band or challenge Don and Glenn. That doesn't seem very 'alpha.'

yeah you're right HD...Joe doesn't seem very alpha...but you never know behind the scenes...
