You can't change the world but you can change yourself.
Regarding, Glenn's solo career... Honestly, (and if you read my New Kid in Town post, you'll see) I didn't know know about any of the Eagles' solo careers or otherwise besides Don Henley's until I saw the doc. I was born in '83 and Don was just more prominent on the radio, MTV and VH1 etc when I was coming of age to notice. So I've known I was a Don fan for a while...love Boys of Summer.
Looking back, I had heard The Heat is On, Smuggler's Blues, and You Belong to the City because my mom was a Miami Vice fanatic. However, it wasn't until I just dove into Glenn's solo career that I realized it was him who had sang those songs I had heard when I was little! (I now own 3 of his solo records and the Miami Vice soundtrack, and have heard After Hours and the others).
I like to think I've been a Glenn fan all along, I just didn't know it yet
obviously that's pretty much true because I also didn't realize that Glenn wrote and sang many of the Eagles' songs that I had listened to and "did things to" (as Glenn likes to say) hundreds of times.
Just enjoying the music had been enough for me. I didn't know what I was missing!
We are an overstimulated society. So if something isn't constantly in your face, or even if it is, you might not notice or choose to tune it out. Otherwise, you'd go insane. So while you might know who Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber are, you might not like them. Just like just because you overlooked someone doesn't mean that they aren't AMAZING!
Anyway, I'm ecstatic to be so enlightened by this new documentary and all the interesting details I'm finding out from all of you lovely folks!
edit: actually I did know about Joe Walsh's solo career. I've been a fan of his for quite a few years now too and have some of his solo records. Rocky Mountain Way and Life's Been Good are faves, but I hadn't realized he was an official Eagle. I thought he just played with them.
Topkat and I got a little off topic in Randy's video thread, but what we said was about the doc, so I figured I would post it here...
we had been talking about a video interview with Randy where he mentions the Third Encore...
The way Don Felder put it in his book while explaining his own infidelity was that while they were on tour, Randy would "forget" he was married. Felder claimed you would have to be a "saint" to resist, married or no.
I'm sure it was hard to resist beautiful women throwing themselves at you... but it was possible if you truly felt it was important to do so. Guess they didn't.

OK, U.K. FANS...HERE IT IS....
Our favorite guys are headed across the pond the end of April to promote the DVD at Sundance London. (Didn't see this posted anywhere yet so if someone already put it here somewhere, sorry for the duplication!)
