I grew up in Beaumont, over in Southeast Texas. (That's why I'm going so far to see Don perform in Beaumont this week). However, since Texas is such a big fat state, I still lived almost four hours away from Linden. Of course, he was long gone from Linden by the time I was in Beaumont, but it's even further away from his current home outside of Dallas (four and a half hours).

I got my undergrad and master's at Texas A&M, and my first job teaching was in Houston where my parents currently live. I haven't lived in Texas for several years now, but I'll always consider it my home state.

Ironically, I didn't become a big fan of Don Henley until after I moved away!

As a Texan, I can say we often don't count ourselves as part of the South, but we sure as heck like to pretend we're all cowboys!
She probably got it from here, and the documentary wasn't clear on when the name came about that I recall.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagles_(band)

The name of the band was first suggested by Leadon during a peyote and tequila-influenced group outing in the Mohave Desert, when he recalled reading about the Hopi's reverence for the eagle.[10]

She didn't say she looked it up on Wikipedia, VA, she said outright she got it from the doc. However, your efforts in her defense are valiant. You've got a generous spirit.

Trivia; Glenn once said 'I'm from the East, Detroit' where Michigan as far as I know normally gets 'Midwest' attached to it.
I wonder if that was a dry joke in his part. Bless 'em, but West Coasters tend to see the country as either West or East Coast and nothing in between--they call our poor middle part if the country "FlyOver Country!" So maybe he was just poking fun that to "The Industry" or Californians, anything not in their side of the world is "East." I know I've read interviews where he said he was excited to leave Midwest winters for Cali sun, so he does recognize his Midwest roots. (And love he still has the speech cadence from our neck of the woods--can take the boy out of the Midwest, but can't take Midwest out of the man...

I saw this from FB too and wanted to post it in here but I only get online for a few minutes a day so someone beat me to it! I thought it was funny but obviously I don't agree with her, but hey, if someone is gonna hate a band before knowing much about them, they don't deserve to be a fan anyway!

Not everyone laughs at the same jokes. No need to take it personally.
