Yep - that was definitely a perm. It was the fad back in the day. Lots of guys wore 'fros in the 70's ... then they morphed into the 80's big hair.

I never knew that was a perm! I have 2 brothers who have very curly hair and basically had Don's 'fro in the 70's, when they would let it grow long. When they cut it short, it looked wavy or straight, depending on how short it was. I always assumed it was the same for Don.

Maybe he just used rollers every now and then. There are photos where I could swear Glenn must have used a curling iron or rollers of some sort on occasion back in the day.



So maybe Don did the same - gave his hair a bit of "help" but didn't actually go whole-hog and get a perm.

Regardless, I love it! I was so in love with Don back then, (before I bacame a Glenn girl!) I even talked my hubby and brother in to getting one! They deny it today but I have pictures!

Maybe his hair is naturally curly and he straightens it now?

I have a cousin who has very curly hair naturally and she blow dries it straight every day. I had to ask her why she did that. She's used chemical straighteners at times, but these days she just keeps it short and dries it so that it's straight. Humidity makes it frizz but doesn't make it curl again, although outright rain will.

See, that's what I always thought, that the curl (fro) was natural and that he had it straightened at some point. Nowadays he wears it cut so short he doesn't have to worry about it either way.

I don't think I will ever believe that it's not a perm. He had straighter hair in the older pics too. It's just too perfect to be naturally curly hair and he doesn't have any frizz nowadays or since. That I've seen.

No need for anyone to get upset about it. It's all speculation.
