Yes I agree TBF and speaking of which - how many of us can speak right along with the guys word for word what they are saying? I know I have watched some movies so many times that I know the dialogue. HotE is becoming that way for me now too!

HB: I know exactly what you mean! Some parts I've watched again and again. The inflection in their voices when they say certain things jumps out at me. Like in the beginning when Don says "it's very narrow and windy up here" in his cute little drawl. And another one that always makes me think there must be a story behind it (but I'm probably reading into it too much) is when Glenn is talking about hanging at Dan Tana's with all the pretty girls and then he says they all had to go home "because they were kept women". There is a real wistfulness in his voice. Not a hint of judgement. Just sadness.

Of course, this all means that clearly I have too much time on my hands

I watched it last night & loved it. I really don't know what to say! Perhaps someone would like to ask. I am reluctant to stir up stuff that has already been done to death in this thread.

I understand what you mean FP - I guess that's a big downside of seeing the film after many of us have already seen and discussed it. I think we've pretty much covered it all. What did you think of the D.C. concert? I personally thought both the video and audio quality were exceptional.

FP, you have every right to bring up points in the doc that you want to have a conversation about. I did, and I watched it long after those who had seen it on Showtime.

What do you want to dredge up?

I haven't watched that yet, although I liked the footage of it I saw in HOTE itself.

    Well....

I was impressed with Don Henley's dry sense of humour. I liked the way he explained how vulnerable he felt on occasion. I thought he stayed away from controversial subjects, with the exception of what happened with Victim Of Love.

I have even more respect for Joe; his honesty, his humour (I thought they ALL displayed great humour, with one exception. Perhaps you can guess because I won't go into it further). Joe's loyalty to the band & to Don, Glenn & Irving was very touching.

Tim got insufficient time on screen, as I think people have said. He came across as a very warm, openhearted man.

I thought Bernie was great & he handled the 'beer' incident very well. Unfortunately, Randy barely featured. What I saw of him I liked because he seemed very sweet natured.

My opinions of Don Felder have not changed. I was unimpressed with his 'famous final scene'. He looked out of place to me. Every shot of him even from the 70s; he didn't look right. Please don't flame me, Felder fans. I don't know what it is about him but I cannot relate to him at all & I tried to watch it with a clear head.

Finally can I just say this:

I was however disappointed that of all the major songs that were featured, some at greater length than others, once again New Kid In Town was totally ignored.

I was disappointed with the way so much was crammed into Part 2. I wanted less about HFO & more about LROOE, although I thought the HFO rehearsal footage was fascinating. I thought there was a bit too much reliance on a particular press conference & performance footage from that era (although I had not seen the clip of New York Minute, which I never saw them do).

Part of me wants to write a great deal more but I just feel reluctant.

If you're a hardcore fan, I think it's never going to be enough. You want every crumb, every morsel...we waited so long for something like this and - we want more. It's the human in us.

I agree that Don Henley came off adorably. I was not expecting to be smitten with him as much as I was.

I agree with all of your other assessments, FP, with the exception of Don Felder, but I'm really not that invested in the whole Felder thing...never read his book, only know what I've read here. I didn't really have a thought about his interview one way or another.

But FP, you mentioned all Eagles but one! What did you think of Glenn in the documentary?
