In his book Don F says that he drove Joe to rehab, so I thought that Don sort of organized it. But in the documentary Glenn says that Don and Irving drove him there, so it's obvious that the band was behind it. Then Joe says that he's really grateful to "those three guys". Who are those three? Don F, Glenn and Irving? Don H, Glenn and Irving? Glenn, Don H and Don F?

I'd assume he meant Felder, Irv and Glenn.

I wondered about that, too. Without whatever Joe was saying before, it's just not clear. Joe's manager, David Spero, was also involved so he could have been one of the three. Or Joe could have been thinking of the people who set the condition (Glenn, Don H and Irving?)

    From an article on Spero:
But Frey had demands he wanted met before he would proceed. They were on a single sheet of paper. "I call them 'The Glenn Commandments,' " Spero said.
The conditions included governing band behavior on the road. After terms were agreed to, the Hell Freezes Over tour was under way.
"The rules were straightforward," said Spero. "No drugs or drinking allowed on tour. In fact, it specified that all the hotel minibars be emptied in all the hotel rooms before band members arrived. There was to be no abuse of the crew, which meant no more of the usual yelling and screaming."

Spero also says that the 1992 "Party of Two" tour was called the NBA - No Blow Allowed - tour by Glenn.

I think Joe’s comments are a bit confusing too; however, I take it as him referring to Irving, Glenn, and Don Henley. The dialogue leading up to the comment in the DVD is specifically talking about the meeting in Aspen with Irving, Glenn, and Don H. and the decision to reform the band. Here are Joe’s exact words …

“I made a commitment to them that I would clean up and that I would be in the band if that’s what they wanted to do. I’m really, really grateful to those three guys because I had a really good reason to get sober. And as soon as I got sober, we started rehearsal.”

ETA: Although I can't remember where at the moment, I do recall reading that Joe did suffer a relapse sometime around the mid-90's. But, he quickly picked himself up and got back on track with his sobriety. As I said earlier, I really believe he is a true inspiration to anyone suffering from substance abuse issues. He seems to be so happy and together these days, and yet he has stayed true to himself as he has completely changed his life around.

Sorry about that, Honey. I posted the link before I looked! LOL

I'm really enjoying it here and thanks for all the welcomes. It's good to meet people as obsessed as I am.

Well, I've had a really long day at work so I think I'll go home, watch the documentary again and spend some quality time with Randy.

Thanks VA. As a Jackson Browne fan I appreciated both articles; the first obviously hones in on that great part in the doc where Glenn describes how he learned what it takes to writes songs by listening to JB every morning, and even the second article calls Jackson a "hero" for the same reasons.
