Heh, it happens - I can think of similar mistakes that I've made before now. I can breathe easy now! :hilarious:
Happy birthday Paul. I'll be honest and say he's not my favourite Beatle (I prefer George and John over him as musicians and songwriters), although he made a huge contribution to the band and even though I'm not as big a Beatles fan as some people I'm very happy to acknowledge that he wrote some of the best melodies of all time and was also a very gifted bassist.

Happy birthday, peace and love Ringo! :birthday:
He's been an influence to so many drummers and it's so cool that Joe and Tim got to play in his All-Starr Band. On a personal level, my introduction to Ringo as a child was not as a musician, but as the storyteller of the original series of Thomas the Tank Engine! His reassuring voice was a perfect fit for the engine stories.

Happy Birthday Linda!!! :D I always associate Linda's music with my Mom as my Mom really wanted to go into music so badly when she was a teen (and she has such a great voice too imo) but sadly was talked out of it by my grandparents. Linda was one of the many female artists my Mom still is always playing & singing and I remember being little and her telling me about how she helped form the Eagles so I was impressed. But I love Linda's songs too and her amazing voice. :D

Happy birthday Geddy! :birthday: I only really know a small amount of Rush's catalogue although I like the two albums I have a lot. It amazes me how Geddy can sing while playing complex bass parts and in some cases providing additional synth/keyboard parts. For now we shall have to imagine a bassist smilie, although I'd certainly like to see one if possible (it would be very useful whenever the outro of Outlaw Man comes up!).

Ooh, I didn't know it was Mike Rutherford's birthday yesterday. Thanks for the heads up, FP! The first song that I recognized from him other than what he did for Genesis was probably "Heartbeat" by Red 7 that was featured at the very end of Manhunter. I fell asleep while watching it, but I woke up in time to hear In-a-Gadda-da-Vida and Heartbeat almost right after.
Happy birthday to Lindsey Buckingham! My favorite solo album of his is Out of the Cradle, but I haven't given Gift of Screws and Seeds We Sow a listen yet. Under the Skin would come in 2nd because I really like a few of the songs on it, especially Cast Away Dreams, which is my favorite on that. It's hard for me to make it through Law and Order and Go Insane though. Also, Law and Order and Under the Skin were released today in 1981 and 2006, respectively.
ETA: I gave Law and Order a listen again, and there are three songs that bother me in it. That's probably why it can be hard to get through it at times for me. The 3 songs are: September Song, That's How We DO It in L.A., and Johnny Stew. The 1st half of the album is fine, but the 2nd half gets into shaky territory beginning at track 6, September Song.

Very happy, very belated birthday wishes to Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason (73 - I think - on 27th January) and also to Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones (71on 3rd January).
I'm sure there's someone I'm forgetting now... think he was in the same band as one of the above two... just trying remember...

I'm doing good NMB - thanks for asking. Funnily enough I was reminded of you yesterday. One of my Christmas presents along with the HOTE DVD was the Led Zeppelin Celebration Day CD/DVD combo set - I was listening to the album on the train yesterday. I seem to remember you saying you were there on the night? Good times (not bad times)! :rockguitar:

I was indeed there to witness the glory. I have the DVD as well, but I haven't watched it or even taken the cellophane off the package. It's like I don't want my memory of the momentous night to be changed.

Happy Birthday to the late Robin and Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees. They would had been 67 today if they were alive.
Even though Barry is my favorite, I always loved Robin angelic voice.
Losing Maurice broke my heart then with the death of Robin, another heartbreaking goodbye. Super talented and lovely guys gone much too soon.
Isn't it slightly weird that Daryl Hall and Justin Hayward are the same age?
I know Justin started very young; I believe he was only 18 when he joined the Moodies. And crikey, imagine writing not one but two timeless classics by the time you're 20 - Nights in White Satin & Tuesday Afternoon.
Some people are so talented it makes my teeth ache.
Happy BDay! I saw The Moody Blues several years ago and was mesmerized. Justin's performance blew me away. Such a beautiful voice and flawless vocals. All time favorite band and performer. And yes, he was as handsome as ever, lol.

I will be entirely honest here and say I have never knowingly listened to The Moody Blues, however yesterday I passed the exact site where the Isle of Wight Festival was held in 1970, and was thinking how amazing it would have been to see the likes of Hendrix and The Doors playing in that very field!
Happy birthday Justin!

Happy birthday Justin!
I love The Moody Blues. I think their sound is unique, and their songs have great melodies and beautiful lyrics.
As for the Isle of Wight Festival, here are a couple of quotes from Justin:
It was a difficult day. Anybody who said it was peace, love and good vibes is clearly lying. The fences came down, the security disappeared. It was kind of dangerous. There were a lot of bad drugs going around. But fortunately, we had just had a song called “Question” and it got to number one in the UK charts and the audience was ready for us. There were a lot of people, artists, that took it all in the wrong kind of spirit and got a little bit aggressive but I think the whole crowd, 400,000 or something people, were kind of relieved when we came on because they thought, “Ah, it’s the Moodies and they’re going to play ‘Question’.” And suddenly everybody felt safer and more secure. It was a good night for us. It wasn’t so much for the rest of the artists. But I think that was the end of an era as well. That was the end of that great festival era.
[The Isle of Wight] wasn’t a very pleasant festival. People talk about it now as if it was all love and good vibes. That’s absolutely not true. It was almost the opposite – it was violent, difficult, and unpleasant.
Nobody was getting paid. And I remember Free really getting angry with the promoter, just taking their money from him and (laughs) holding him up against the wall. It was very difficult. I think that some of the Americans artist might have been paid beforehand, but none of the rest of us got paid.
The fence came down, and it turned into a free concert – which just meant it was chaos. Any security disappeared – and anyone official disappeared. It was just a free-for-all.

My personal favorite is "Tuesday Afternoon," it's just perfect and beautiful. To think, Justin was very young when he wrote these epic songs. These timeless melodies just landed on his pretty head. I think he was only 18 when "Nights" came to him.
