To my knowledge none of the Eagles played on Life's Been Good. The only tracks any of the band played on on the But Seriously Folks album were At The Station & Second Hand Store (Felder) & Tomorrow (Frey/Henley/Schmit). I assume when you refer to Walsh & Felder's 'duelling guitars' here you are talking about the Eagles Live version.
You mention the intro. Classic, yes, but am I the only one who thinks it is similar to Led Zeppelin's Houses Of The Holy?
Anyway I vote for One Day At A Time.
Yes I'm talking about the Live version dueling guitars. But on the record I remember reading somewhere in an interview or something on a guitar forum Felder played on LBG... I'll try to find it.
As far as similarities to the Zeppelin tune, I don't hear any, but that's just me and my ears.

I can only reply that my CD booklet of But Seriously Folks lists the extra musicians. Felder is not listed as having played on Life's Been Good.

I think it's time for Life's Been Good to go now! I'm holding off for a bit to see what happens, but as I've said before, we need real Eagles tunes!
I don't necessarily agree Soda. I know some of you play the game that way, but I just want to mention that nowhere in the Survivor rules does it mention looking at who wrote the song, who sings the song or who recorded the song first. In fact, the rules state
Remember: you're voting for your LEAST favorite, not your favorite.
With that in mind I would encourage everyone to simply vote off the song you like listening to the least.
I cast my vote for Hole In The World.

I honestly don't think I've been so all over the place and screwed up in one of these games as I have been this one. I honestly didn't think that we'd still be dealing with LBG or ODAAT at this point. Love ya Joe but.....
In order to save Get Over It, at this point, I'm being forced to vote strategically which you all know is rare for me. As much as I feel LBG should of went or should go this round, my vote is for One Day At A Time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, because my memory is not what it used to be. Didn't Don start writing Hole in the World after 9/11, the day they were supposed to go into the studio to begin working on LROOE?
I only ask, because I know a lot of this game is based on what makes a song good or important "to you". I know a lot of people find GOI special because it was the first song written by Don and Glenn after a decade. In terms of importance... to me, Hole in the World, always makes me think of the next phase of the band in regards to writting new music for an album.
While I do not love ODAAT, I like it more than Get Over It. The more I hear it, the more I'm beginning to dislike it. For the first song Don and Glenn wrote after their 'vacation'... I guess I would have expected it more in the vein of their older style, something more melodic w/beautiful harmonies... this song just does not cut it for me.
I'm not sure anything can save ODAAT right now... but in any effort to make a difference...
I vote for Get Over It !

Yeh, ltl - I think Don has said that he began writing HITW after the band canceled their scheduled studio session on 9/11/01.
Well, this game has been very unpredictable - that's for sure. I actually think it's been fun, even though some of the rounds have been irritating nailbiters for me. Over the several years weve been playing these Survivor games on this board, the one thing Ive learned most of all is that, for inexplicable reasons unbekownst to me, not everyone likes the songs eliminated in the same order as me. Imagine that! All joking aside, it is sometimes an eye-opener about how different people's opinions can be. But as we always say, there is no right or wrong way to vote here.
There are still a lot of people that haven't voted yet, so anything can happen. I'm going to join the coalition to save Get Over It because I love the rocking song more than some of the remaining songs. So ...
I cast my vote for One Day At a Time.

Dreamer, I'm LOL, because I know so many of us sit on the other end of this screen thinking at one time or another... "What? How could ANYONE not LOVE the song I love." Music is SO personal, it hits us all differently...
That's the funny thing about GOI... either it seems like you love it or leave it... I'm all for leaving it.

I always seem to forget to vote when I decide to wait until near the end to see how the round plays out. :brickwall:That's what happened the last two rounds but my vote would not have changed the outcome.
I like ODAAT, but I don't think that it is anything outstanding. I love GOI. I think it really rocks! Love the words & the guitar solos (especially Glenn's ;)). Therefore, I am going with the coalition.
I cast my vote for One Day At A Time.

I feel completely the opposite. I wanted something DIFFERENT from the 'melodic harmony' stuff & GOI is just that. If I do have a reservation about it, it is more of a Don Henley solo rant. It's just that they did write the lyrics together & you can hear Glenn clearly in the chorus. Like so many of their later songs, I think Glenn could have sung it.
Now to vote & I'm sorry Austin, but it really is high time Life's Been Good left.

I know what you mean EV. I feel exactly the same way - just a different song.
Soda and I were discussing Hole In the World the other evening. It is a very pretty song with a nice melody and lovely harmonies. However, it is WAAAAYYYY too repetitious. It would have been much better if they had added a third verse to the song. As it is now, more than half of the song is just a repetition of the same four lines ...
There's a hole in the world tonight
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow
There's a hole in the world tonight
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow
As I said, its pretty but the time has come for it to go. As usual, I'm going to withhold my vote for now to see how this round plays out, but I would encourage those of who want to save Get Over It to band together once more and vote for Hole In the World. So one more time ...

Holding off on my vote because want to see what I need to do to save GOI. I still cannot believe that Life's Been Good is still in there and people are actually voting for GOI before a Joe solo song! Don't get it!! :brickwall: I also love Hole In The World, tho I agree it is very repetitive, so it will be hard to vote for it if it comes to that this round.
Regarding GOI, I think it rocks but the lyrics are so good. Yes, it's a Don and Glenn rant but, to me anyways, the words are very true and yet humorous at the same time. Lines like, "I'd like to find your inner child and kick it's little ass" and "It's like going to confession every time I hear you speak". Amen my brother!!!
Just a reminder to all... read these and tell me they don't make you smile. And add a rocking beat by the Eagles, and you can't go wrong.
I turn on the tube and what do I see
A whole lotta people cryin' "Don't blame me"
They point their crooked little fingers at everybody else
Spend all their time feelin' sorry for themselves
Victim of this, victim of that
Your momma's too thin; your daddy's too fat
Get over it
Get over it
All this whinin' and cryin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it
You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash
But you might feel better if they gave you some cash
The more I think about it, Old Billy was right
Let's kill all the lawyers -- kill 'em tonight
You don't want to work; you want to live like a king
But the big, bad world doesn't owe you a thing
Get over it
Get over it
If you don't want to play, then you might as well split
Get over it, get over it
It's like going to confession every time I hear you speak
You're makin' the most of your losin' streak
Some call it sick, but I call it weak
You drag it around like a ball and chain
You wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain
You wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown
Got your mind in the gutter, bringin' everybody down
Complain about the present and blame it on the past
I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass
Get over it
Get over it
All this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin'a fit
Get over it, get over it
Get over it
Get over it
It's gotta stop sometime, so why don't you quit
Get over it, get over it
SAVE GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as Hole in the World goes... the line, "There's a hole in the world tonight. Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow' gets me every time. It's a wish for a brighter tomorrow, for hope after feeling despair.

It IS pretty dang repetitive. They sing that chorus over and over for two+ minutes! Seven times in a row, folks! And even Don's "ad-libs" at the end are just repeating stuff he's already sung. That kind of thing works well in moderation when you're wrapping up a song, but when it makes up half of the song... that's a bit much! JMHO.
Freypower
02-15-2011, 10:43 PM
HITW could have been a much better song with another verse- and again, why couldn't Glenn have sung it? Just for a change... or they could have split it. As for all the vocal adlibs at the end, I find them unnecessary. I do like the song however.
I think it's obvious by now which song will win. The song that to my knowledge has received NOT ONE vote against it.

I absolutely 100% agree with you on this, PM. Life's Been Good was included in this game because it appeared on an Eagles Live album. It remains in the game because the majority of player's here apparently think its a better song than some of the others. That's all that really counts.
Now, there is no reason for me to delay my vote since it seems the coalition is working. However, there are several players who haven't voted yet. So hopefully, they won't forget to vote before this round ends tonight. By my count, with my vote, Hole In the World and Get Over It are now tied.

Dreamer, I do not like that they are tied! :weep: I feel like I've only voted for one song all game. (Which isn't true, but that's how I feel) GOI is the song that just wont die... (much to some people's pleasure).
Prettymaid, I've been meaning to make that very comment... if it's a solo song, maybe it shouldn't have been included. I know that it was on the Live CD... but if it's a matter of solo vs Eagles, maybe it shouldn't have been included.
TBF, I do not consider LBG, DL or BOS to be Eagles songs. All solos IMO. I too agree that an Eagles concert should be mainly Eagles and not so much solo stuff.
However, since LBG IS indeed included in this game, I will treat it as I would any song in the game. I'll keep it around because I like it... but if it comes to LBG and an Eagle song I love... it'll probably lose out in my book.
sodascouts
02-16-2011, 11:50 AM
Life's Been Good appears on the Eagles Live album, so I included it, but IMHO, that's just a technicality. Obviously, I think it does matter whether or not something is a true Eagles song in terms of what should win this game - at least, it matters to me. With regard to this Survivor, I like the fact that this is still on here least, and therefore I hope to get a chance to vote it off.
I get that not everyone agrees with me. Such is life. I'm not saying anyone has to. If I'm in the minority, so be it.
But you're not going to convince me that it's illegitimate to consider that as a factor when I'm deciding which song I want to leave the island, or that I shouldn't bring it up when we're discussing eliminations. Sorry, PM.
WalshFan88
02-16-2011, 01:08 PM
As far as solo songs being included.... I have to say, I agree with PM.
As far as if BOS and DL are Eagles songs, officially no. But I am thinking more about who I associate a song with more. When I think of the song, which one comes to my mind. Do I associate it more with the Eagles, or the solo artist. In the case of LBG, I associate it more with the Eagles. But it of course isn't an official Eagles release, but I associate it with the Eagles. Who you associate a song with is all personal opinion.
As far as concerts go, I have to say it wouldn't be the same for me after hearing the guys perform their own hits in 2008 in Chicago. It wouldn't be the same without having a 3hr concert and getting to hear some of my faves like Life's Been Good, Walk Away, Rocky Mountain Way, Dirty Laundry, Boys Of Summer, All She Wants To Do Is Dance, etc. Think about this. What if the concertgoer couldn't see the guys solo (due to not playing in the area, the guys not doing a solo show, whatever) and they did all Eagles songs and the concertgoer really likes their solo hits. How would they be able to hear those songs they like? I'm not saying I would boycott Eagles concerts if they didn't do solo songs, but it'd be different for me and a disappointment for me not to hear them. Just my opinion though. I think probably they could lower the amount to where each guy has 2 or so solo songs and I'd be ok with that. But playing 0 solo songs would be a big bummer for me. It doesn't seem right to go to an Eagles concert and not hear Life's Been Good...or Boys of Summer...etc. I can't get that through my mind at all. But that's just me!
I believe everyone should vote for the songs they want to regardless and vote by the songs YOU want to win. Not just voting them off because they aren't an official Eagles song. So if you want let's say, Get Over It, to win. Start by voting off your least favorite of the game and make your votes according from least favorite to favorite and then pick your song to win if its available. If it's not, pick your next in line favorite. But I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm just saying that this is what I am doing and what I think is a good idea.
This has been an interesting game to say the least! Definitely the one with the most debate since I've been here. I enjoy these games. As someone mentioned earlier, Music is a very personal thing and we all are different in what we like. If we all liked the same stuff, it'd be very boring in my opinion.

I totally get why it was included because it was on the Live album. I believe it was fair to include it for that reason. Doesn't mean I can't use the criteria of trying to eliminate any solo songs because I don't feel they should be in the final few anymore than you can't use any criteria to eliminate songs the way you do. ;-) Agree to disagree.
I believe everyone should vote for the songs they want to regardless and vote by the songs YOU want to win. Not just voting them off because they aren't an official Eagles song. The way I usually play the game but this one has befuddled me from the get go and I haven't been able to do that.

Maybe the fact that I'm 100 years older than you might be the reason I can't associate those songs with the Eagles because I remember each one when they were first released as solo works.

I understand that but I think in giving us those songs, they are leaving out so many good Eagles tunes, NKIT & Already Gone just to name a couple. You're preaching to the choir when it comes to seeing Eagles solo shows. Took me 30 years to see Timothy solo.
Again, I guess we will need to agree to disagree on this one. It looks as if Soda & I are definitely the minority in this one. It's all good---I still love all of you even tho you don't think like me. This game would be awfully boring if we all agreed on which songs should go in each round. (See---I'm trying to be a good sport about it all )

But you're not going to convince me that it's illegitimate to consider that as a factor when I'm deciding which song I want to leave the island, or that I shouldn't bring it up when we're discussing eliminations. Sorry, PM.
:-( I'm not trying to convince you. I'm trying to let anyone who is fairly new to the game know that the song does not have to be an Eagles song to win. It's not that I'm even wanting a solo song to win - I just want everyone to know that they don't have to vote that way. Sorry if it seems like I'm beating a dead horse. ;-)

As far as leaving out NKIT and AG, I agree. Great songs. I think a couple solo songs for each of the guys is good though. Perhaps they can lower the number of solo tunes they do but I wouldn't want them to completely do away with them.

I'm trying, I'm trying......SAVE GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I do believe it matters rather it's an Eagles song or a solo tune! But then, I'm also one that believes an Eagles concert should be Eagles songs and not 30% (guessing here) solo works.
I agree; for the people who think all the solo songs are so great, try being a Frey fan. Even more a Schmit fan. I've heard all the arguments that Glenn himself doesn't want to play his solo songs; that does not make it right.
Don Henley made a comment that the solo songs 'could have been Eagles songs'. But they are not. Like Willie, I was around when they were released. I bought the albums they were on.
But for me the primary issue is which is the better song - and I don't think LBG is a better song than GOI. People might enjoy watching it live - that doesn't make it a better song.

As far as solo songs being included.... I have to say, I agree with PM.
I feel I have to quote this because again, for Frey fans this argument is irrelevant. If the 'all Eagles songs' included TS, NKIT & AG, I'm afraid that I would prefer that to a show with all the non-Frey solo songs. It doesn't seem right to go to an Eagles concert and not hear New Kid In Town. And I have heard the arguments about why that song has been dropped. At least I saw Somebody a couple of times... would I rather that than the non-Frey solo songs? The answer is yes.
NB: I do like the non-Frey solo songs. I realise that labelling them that way is somewhat heavy-handed but I think the point needs to be made. What would be wrong with some rotation?

My plea to encourage people to vote for their ultimate favorite song on the list was never meant to cause a debate about whether or not solo songs should be included in Eagles concerts. I was just trying to play the game. If someone posted that a 'solo' song should be voted off (just for that reason), I was simply trying to state the case for the other side. And now it's become all this...:ack:
Ive always been a dreamer

Don't worry, PM - it's all in the spirit of fun debate. I think this has been entertaining. Now, everybody needs to take a deep breath and swallow some of their meds.
But for me the primary issue is which is the better song - and I don't think LBG is a better song than GOI.
I agree that the primary issue when I vote is what I think is the better song. But, as much as I love Get Over It, there is no way I believe it is a better song than Life's Been Good, which is a rock and roll classic. Get Over It is hardly known outside of the hardcore Eagles fandom. Now, notoriety alone, doesn't mean that a song is good. However, there is usually a good reason that certain songs stick around and become known by generations long after their originial release. In the case of LBG, it is a classic because it is a great comedic lyrical satire, and the music is unique, innovative, and incredibly catchy. Simply put many people love it, and that's probably because it is a great song.
We say repeatedly that there is no right or wrong way to vote here, and I believe that. If the reason that you vote for or against a song is valid to you, then that's all that matters. But, everyone has to remember, if you are going to try to sell others on following you, they may or may not buy in to your rationale or reasoning - it's nothing personal though. And just as an aside, as many of you know, I like to vote stragically, but I will never vote strategically in lieu of eliminating a song that I want to go.
Now - speaking of voting ... where are our missing voters. I sure hope this round doesn't end up in a tie. :ack:
Come on all of you MIA players - come on in here and cast your vote for ...

It does not bother me at all that GOI is 'hardly known' outside hardcore Eagles fans. I think it is superior, both lyrically and musically, to LBG. I agree that LBG is a good song. I just don't think it deserves to be as exalted as it apparently has become. It isn't even my favourite of Joe's solo songss.

Nothing is wrong with rotation. But they best not drop Life's Been Good. I can't imagine an Eagles concert without hearing it. Just does not seem possible. It is IMO the best song of Joe's. Like I said above earlier if you caught it, I wouldn't mind if the solo songs were lowered and if Frey or whoever had a solo song or two, but I would be pretty upset if LBG was dropped from the setlist. But that's just me.
What I don't get is this talk about the solo songs as if they aren't "good enough" to win the game or that because they aren't official Eagles songs, they are automatically not as good as a "real Eagles song". Or that solo songs are voted off "just because" it's not an official Eagles song, regardless of how good/bad the song is. Or that a solo song doesn't deserve to win compared to an Eagles song. People should vote for the songs they want off so their favorite can win. Not voting it off just because it wasn't released on an Eagles studio album. JMO though. I understand that maybe you aren't doing that, but I'm just generally speaking here. I get the feeling of that from what I've read. I have nothing against any of the songs in the game, I like almost all of them, and if LBG doesn't win, so be it. I just want it to be fair. :)
I think it would be great if AG and NKIT were included in the setlist. I really like AG, it's one of my fav's. All I'm saying is that I don't want to see LBG gone. It would be completely different for me personally. A couple songs per guy isn't so bad. Or even one solo song per guy, as long as Joe does LBG, it's all good. And Henley with BOS, and Frey with THIO or whatever. But LBG is somewhat of a requirement for me. But I would still probably go, but it'd be different than what I'm used to with them.
Ok, I'm off my soapbox now.... But I just wanted to say something in response to this. I've said my thoughts and I'm sticking to my list. I'm voting by which songs I like/dislike. Eagles songs, solo songs, etc. All going by how well I like the song. That's how I've always played. I don't discriminate! :D All songs are treated fairly with me. Unless it's a Genesis song or something! :hilarious: Just kidding!

I agree Frey should have solo songs as well. Hence the reason I suggested dividing it between them. All I'm saying is that I don't want solo songs to go away. I would be all for each guy having one or two solo tunes. I think it would be great if Glenn had a couple solo songs. Especially THIO and SB.

Hotel California, Stairway to Heaven, Compfortably Numb...
There has never been a time that I passed up this song... NEVER... even before I related it to the Eagles... it's an anthem... I will always look at it as a Joe Walsh song... but my goodness if I don't love me some Life's Been Good.

Okay, here's another wrench I'm going to throw in. My first instict is to vote for LBG (only because GOI is immune.) I'm sort of tired of LBG. It's been overplayed on the radio in the past so much so that I don't get very excited to hear it in concert anymore. But should I just go with my first instinct or should I scrutinize it and listen to it with 'fresh' ears? I've always tried to play the game as to what I like to listen to the most. I'm not that thrilled with LTBS either, but at least I don't have that 'this again?' feeling when it starts playing.

Thank you Fp for saving GOI one more round! :yay:
Now, I really love both LTBS and LBG, but I have to try to save the one I love the most, and even though it's been played to death, the Eagles love it and still play it at their shows. The crowds at the shows go wild when they hear it's beginning. It's a hoot and it's fun and crazy. Yes, it started out as Joe's song. But the Eagles have decided to claim it as their own. Now imagine yourself at a concert where they play LTBS! It's a wonderful song, but not all that fun. I really love Don's voice on it. But..........it's a little boring.

The tribe has spoken and the next song to be eliminated from Non-Studio Album Survivor is Learn to Be Still. Sorry, "Learn to Be Still", but at least your farewell wasn't violent... It's time for you to leave the island. The remaining songs may return to camp.

I'd be lying if I didn't say that I'm shocked by the amount of people who love GOI. I never attached myself to that song, so I am surprised at the amount of people who think it's a better song than LBG. I'm not saying anyone has to love either song, but when I listen to them both, LBG has such a great sound. I feel miles away from GOI, never found the appreciation in it.
I've stated before, I'm not really a fan of Witchy Woman or worse Desperado... but I can appreciate them for what they are.
These games are always an eye opener for me, because we all must hear something so different when we listen to these songs.

It reminds me of Tim's Survivor and the song "In Roxy's Eyes" - it was "love it or hate it" - its detractors could not understand why some of us loved it so much and fought for it so many rounds!
The same is true for Get Over It. It has been fought for almost every single round it's been eligible for, barely scraping by each time. I hope it breaks the record and becomes the first "underdog" song to make it all the way to the last round in a Border Survivor game. That would really be something!! :: crosses fingers ::

Well I am very excited because my top three songs made it to the top three, even if it was a struggle. I think this game has been really exciting. Almost every round has been very close, and this one seems to be no exception. There are still quite a few outstanding votes so I still think this one is up for grabs. As hard as I lobbied to get Get Over It in to the top three, I now think it's time for it to go. As much as I love it, I just don't believe it's a better song than Life's Been Good or Seven Bridges Road and that is the only criteria for me at this point in the game. Therefore, with great sadness ...
I cast my vote for Get Over It.

And did you think that from the beginning of the Survivor, or halfway through?

I honestly thought, right from the beginning, it would be down to SBR & GOI. I never thought that LBG would still be there half way through the game. That's how much I know. I think that because the list of all non-studio songs was all over the place to begin with, so were we. And then with the debate of whether some songs were as worthy as others because they were not Eagles songs made the game very divisive. But IMHO, the passage of time shows that LBG is a more lasting song than GOI.

When I finally got to see Seven Bridges Road last year I have to say I was disappointed by it. It didn't reach the expected heights in part because they omitted the last verse. It seemed awkward to me. The harmonies are good but in the 'sometimes there's a part of me' bit where its' just Don & Tim (and you can't hear Tim at all) it loses me then. I'm not surprised by the affection for it; I used to love the song. But I think I've just grown tired of it. I have also grown tired of Life's Been Good. I think I'm in a very small minority. Neither of these songs would have been in my top 3. So even though I voted for it because it's more 'Eagles' I honestly don't think it deserved to win.

LBG may be 'more lasting' for many people because its satire of the rock lifestyle is timeless while GOI is tied to the early 90s political correctness era. I wonder if people think what nobody has dared to say; that Don Henley's 'rants' aren't always suitable for the Eagles (look at similar controversy about Frail Grasp on the Big Picture). I disagree with that because I think the song is one of the most 'Eagles' songs ever in the way it pushes the boundaries. I find the way those guitar solos chime in exhilarating & I love the Shakespeare quotation. I also feel that about the title track of LROOE which I guess is another Henley 'rant' if you like. Perhaps people prefer LBG because it's more 'fun' and it makes them happy. Who knows. I only know that I think GOI is a great song & it has 'lasted' for me at least.

I am pleased to see SBR winning by a landslide. Anyone want to discuss why it deserves or doesn't deserve the win?For me, Seven Bridges Road - despite the fact that it's a cover - is a quintessential Eagles song. All those voices in perfect harmony, lifting you up with them as they soar (as opposed to the beautiful but somber NMWITW). It takes you up to those warm stars in the Southern sky and wraps you up int the romance of the moonlight and the trees, where you can love tenderly or you can love wild. Where you can lose yourself and run like a child in the wind.
When I first heard the guys sing that song live, I not only got goosebumps, I got this feeling of happiness just shooting up through me and turning my spirit into one big starburst, sparkling with joy. It's special. It's magic.
And it needs to win.

Wow Soda! That was quite a description.
SBR is a quintessential Eagles song, but as you all know that's not why I voted for it. ;) It's such a simple yet beautiful melody. The song sort of puts me in mind of Amie by Pure Prairie League which I like a lot too. Just an acoustic guitar with all of those harmonies - I like the simplicity of it. Bottom line - I would much rather hear SBR ten times in a row than LBG!

:applause::nod: I agree with everything you say here for the most part. I admit still can't get into LROOE but do love Frail Grasp. Anyways, I agree that it is all Eagles. Anyone who knows the Eagles, knows their (Don & Glenn's) views on politics and such. And one of my favorite lines in the song is the "Ol' Billy was right, let's kill all the lawyers". Great line and who ever thought you would see a Shakespeare quote worked into a rock song.
As for SBR--agree that it's the harmonies that does it for me. It's all Eagle there and doesn't get any better. My favorite part of the song is the part where it's Don & Timothy singing-it just sends chills down my spine.
For the record, had it come down to SBR and GOI---I would have voted for GOI. I love listening to both songs equally I'd say but the fact that GOI is Eagle written would have been that deciding factor.
FP--I hope you do divulge what your final 3 choices were. I'm interested to hear since the final songs that did make it fought hard by many to get there.

Well, I am delighted that Seven Bridges Road is going to win this game. I am a bit surprised by the margin of victory though. It looks like it was the overwhelming favorite to win no matter which song it had been up against. Again, I am happy because the top 3 songs finished in exactly the order that I wanted.
Now, having made it very clear that Seven Bridges Road is my top choice, I am tempted to cast a pity vote for Life's Been Good. As I've already said several times, I love that awesome song, too. However, IMHO, absolutely NOTHING is better than those darn Eagles harmonies!!! So ...
I cast my vote for Seven Bridges Road!

I wonder if the fact that they have added SBR to the show has anything to do with its popularity in this game. :hmm:

It could be.
My pick for the winner was GOI and SBR was 2nd. I do love those Eagles harmonies, but feel just like you, Willie, that the top song should have been Eagles written.

My final three would have been Get Over It, The Girl From Yesterday & Learn To Be Still.
Just because the band doesn't play these songs live doesn't reduce my affection for them. This is not based on any sentimentality about the HFO show; as people may know, I consider that show disappointing in certain areas. These three just happen to be my favourites from this game.
Also Soda compared SBR with NMWITW; entirely valid & I understand why she & apparently most people prefer SBR. I prefer NMWITW.

You're welcome, Koala. As I already said, it was an interesting game, albeit nerve-wrecking at times.
Congratulations to Seven Bridges Road!!!
And also congrats to Life's Been Good. As far as I'm concerned it was a very worthy runner up. It withstood some fierce competition and arguments for its elimination, but when it was all said and done, the majority of voters in this game believed it is a great song and deserved to finish in second place.

And Soda, I do love your banner!
I don't know how many of the other Borderers currently watch Survivor on TV (my sons are addicted, so I do watch)...but there's a new twist! When someone is voted off the island, they go to a new place called "Redemption Island," to meet their foe (the next person voted off). The two of them battle it out in some sort of challenge duel (I'll learn more of that on tonight's show), with the winner returning to the rest of the tribe and a second chance (ie, redemption) at the game of Survivor! Now, we just have to figure out how to get two songs to battle it out in the challenge duel!!:hilarious:

Sounds like a good idea, Eve. Might add a new dimension to those albums that have already gone through the competition!
Soda, I love that banner too!

Yes, congrats! I wanted this one to win all along and though the order didn't go as I would have liked, lol, the winner is what's important. Worthy indeed!
This has been posted elsewhere, but it's only appropriate to do so here as well:

Surely once a song has been voted off, that's it. At which stage in the game would this happen? Which two songs?
