I forgot to say - I agree with your earlier comment, Julie, about Glenn looking well. He was gorgeous in those vids!

Read everyones comments and then watched both parts of the interview. All I can say is:

    AWKWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to say they did an excellent job of maintaining their dignity, but as I watched the end and their exit I was thinking Timothy was hungry for fruit salad, Glenn was ready for bed and Don wasn't as anxious to work out as he would have everyone think. Joe? I think he was suffering from jet lag!

Well, I can see why that happened. The TV station wanted a snippet to air when advertising the show, and what better than to have the Eagles say "Hello" in Chinese and then declare who they were? And the "face the left" bit was borne of necessity so all the photographers could get shots of the Eagles' faces - how could that have been done differently?

The questions were what I found excruciating. Some of them were so insipid!

As for Troub's question.... well.... lol

I found a couple of bright spots in the middle section that WC put up.
When talking about giving advice to young musicians I liked it when Glenn said, "Play for yourself." And when talking about how they stay fit while they are touring, I thought what Timothy said about everything they do when they're not performing is in some way getting ready for the performance very insightful.

Oh, and I wanted to tell Don to quit fidgeting with his microphone!

Well, I know you're right. I wonder if perhaps all that should have been tried at the beginning and then everyone may have felt more at ease.

I did like the way when the other Eagles spoke Glenn was very supportive & nodded his approval of what they were saying.

Poor guys they looked bored stiff a lot of the time. Wonder how many more interviews they will have to do or try to get out of that are like that, lol.

Ha, just finished watching these and NKIT is on the radio now. Timing or what.

Just finished watching the interview.....Can we say "Jet Lag?". Poor guys just didn't look really pleased or happy to be there at all did they?

A couple things I did find pretty funny.... Joe speaking about young people making a try at it..."You can't be a legend playing in your parents garage.". Good point!

When they were trying to teach them Chinese and the reporter asked who wanted to go first, Don pointed to Timothy. Poor Tim-their "language expert".

I do find it rather funny that it is The Long Road Out Of Eden tour yet the only song mentioned throughout the half hour or so was Hotel California.

From my book Classic Rock Stories by Tim Morse.

Life In The Fast Lane-Don Henley
says: " It's mistaken as a song glorifying that type of lifestyle, when in fact it's not. I'm just trying to give others the benefit of my experience! We tried to be careful. We got slammed for all kinds of stuff-for being sexists, the word "misogyny" has come up, which I think is completely ridiculous. People are always looking for something to jab you for. It's very strange to me sometimes the way people interpret songs."

    Desperado-Don Henley
says: "The whole metaphor of 'rock musicians-as-outlaws' seems silly. It wasn't really accurate. I mean we did live outside the law of normality, but we didn't kill people. At the time, it was fine because that king of music was getting popular and the image helped get the music across, I think. It holds up musically.

It's funny-growing up in Texas I never paid any attention to all the stories about outlaws. Actually, where the whole concept of that album came from was this book that Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Ned Doheny, and Glenn had. It was fun at the time, but unfortunately we got typecast from that album and we were never really able to break out of it, even with One Of These Nights and Hotel California and all our attempts as white R & B and soul music. We were always typecast as a country-rock band on the strength of our first three albums."

I finally got time to watch that. Poor guys. They looked so uncomfortable! The language barrier just really is tough to handle. And they've been through that many times before! And it seemed to me by Don's body language at the very first question about HC he was like: Oh God, that one again...

You guess which one! Loved those comments from them! Too funny!
