You know Topkat – if you are going to try to dominate discussions with your sometimes over-zealous defense, you should at least try to get your facts straight, as HD pointed out earlier. I was on my high school and college debate teams and one of the things they always taught us is that anyone can argue anything with flawed logic, misinformation, or inaccurate facts … it’s takes more effort to support your arguments with rational and accurate facts, but it sure does come across as a lot more
For the record in the above post, the lawsuit was settled out of court. That means the parties agreed to the amount of money to be awarded, not a judge or jury.

Here is another example of misleading information. The impression that I have gotten both before and during the documentary is that there Don Henley feels pretty much the same way as Glenn regarding Felder. He was certainly on board with the firing and has also made some pretty harsh comments regarding the matter.
    well said dreamer i agree

I don't feel that it is particularly appropriate for me to comment until I have seen the documentary, but I have been following this thread with interest. Hopefully I will be able to view it soon enough and add my own thoughts.

If you look at the official Eagles page, the way they have the tour dates listed it looks like it could be Eagle dates. No reference to being solo Glenn until you click on the buy tickets link.

The reason I don't get my info there. They don't update often enough and I get better information by coming to the Border where there's always someone ahead of the game.

As it goes more and more, it feels less documentary...and more celebratory. The 2nd part mostly feels like an infomercial (minus the Walsh drinking). It just felt rehearsed. Controlled. It just feels like there is someone over someone's shoulder saying, "show this, don't show that; spend more time on this, less time on that, etc). Example -- plenty of articles talking about how LROOE was made -- the band was rarely in the studio at the same time. Songs/arrangements were emailed back and forth and recorded separately.
I think you must be right about the second half especially. Nobody said anything about Don Henley's arrest, Stevie Nicks's abortion of his child, Glenn's career tapering off in the late eighties ~ in fact they made it sound like Glenn and Don Henley had the same level of success. They made it look like Glenn had a big acting career. They didn't talk about any other band conflicts besides the one with Felder. There was no talk about the backlash against the Eagles when they were the first band to charge over $100 per ticket. Like someone else said they pretended like the lawsuit never happened.

I didn't think about it until you said something but if you listen to the way they described recording the song Long Road Out Of Eden, you'd probably think the whole album was done together instead of them emailing each other mp3's of their parts. You'd probably also think it was released six months ago instead of six years ago because they were acting like it was brand new.

Maybe it wasn't a control thing though, maybe the filmmakers just didn't investigate beyond what the Eagles told them. If it wasn't brought up by one of the Eagles they didn't go looking for more information, and they didn't fact check to make sure the Eagles were telling the whole truth. Who knows.

My take was Don Henley became the voice of the band and he had the most successful solo career (Glenn's success waned after 1985 while Henley got more and more successful with each album). Don Felder my heart felt for him, he didn't know that the solo successes of Henley and Frey would cause them to take control of the band during the reunion. Then again I didn't know Randy Meisner suffered from stage fright during the Hotel California tour and had to sing "Take It to the Limit" night after night which led to his firing (Frey said he quit, he was fired from the band). Bernie Leadon had every right to leave due to change in direction as he didn't want to rock out yet a compilation album from the time Leadon was in the band became the best selling album in US history.

Frey fell out with Glyn Johns over musical direction, then Bernie Leadon over same thing, then Randy Meisner over Meisner's anxiety and stagefright and then Don Felder over politics and money.
Can you please give some evidence to support your claim that Randy Meisner was fired? Such a claim has never been made, not even by Felder (see page 188 of Heaven & Hell, which claims that Meisner left after one last confrontation with Frey).

I just looked at this. OOPS.

The site leaves enough to be desired as it is. You would think they would get this right given that they have put dates by Don & Joe up under their names. I find that embarrassing to read as somebody who will be at the 'Australian dates'.

It is a sorry site. Since they put up the trailer, you can't even get into the old sections or articles

You know you have some delicious bugs here about on the Mississippi... Extra Protein thank you very much!!!!-Don Henley- At the St. Louis, MO concert June 2010.
