    Another interview.

But a lot of that was omitted in the documentary.
IMO, it was omitted because it only existed in his head and not in real life. He actually puts his solos career on the same level as Glenn's and wonders why that was omitted from the movie?

Granted, the disintegration of things between Don and Glenn in the late seventies wasn't given enough emphasis, but it wasn't omitted, it was in the movie. Don and Glenn certainly didn't "hold hard feelings" against each other for 14 years. There's way too many interviews done by both of them during that time period that says otherwise, besides other books what they've said themselves since then. So again, that's probably why that was omitted from the movie.

I want what he's been smoking so that I can rewrite my own life and believe it.

Well, actually, I see what he's saying on this particular point. The exact quote:

"Don went on to have a sterling solo career, Glenn made some solo records, Joe did, I did, Timothy -- everybody went out on their own. But a lot of that was omitted in the documentary."

He doesn't claim he was as successful as Glenn - he just doesn't compliment Glenn's solo career like he does Henley's. If he doesn't think that highly of it, why should he compliment it?

Plus, not only was Felder's solo career omitted, the impression was given that he never had one. If you didn't know any better, you would think from the documentary that Don Felder didn't release anything during the 80s because Glenn says that he and Don Henley were "the only guys who have done anything career-wise in the last 14 years."

Now, we fans who are familiar with the other guys' solo careers know that Glenn meant anything successful, but if that statement were taken at face value, it would make the viewer think that the other guys weren't able even to get an album together.

I adore Glenn, but looking at this objectively, Felder has a valid point IMHO.

Sorry, the way I was taught to write and speak, it says Don had a fantastic solo career and the rest of them made some solo records. I guess it's all subjective.

I swear this man is a test of Christian thinking given to me by God and it's a test I frequently fail.

I can understand why you would be agitated by what you perceive to be a slight of Glenn, but can you see where he's coming from about the omission of his solo career at least? I'm not trying to persuade you to be Felder's fan or anything, but assuming you genuinely want to be more Christian in your attitude towards him, perhaps it will help to try to see things from his perspective.

Believe me, I try! Not just with him but with everyone, and I'm usually successful. I think part of the problem is that I have a cousin who likes to start talking when we're all trapped (like at Thanksgiving dinner) and starts putting down someone or something by the things he doesn't say. Like what Felder did above by building up Henley and then putting Glenn on the same level as 'everybody', including himself. If we push back, my cousin always gives a wide-eyed innocent look and says 'What? I didn't say anything bad about <whomever>.' This one was a slight thing, but he does it in every interview he gives.

Of course, one thing I will say as I've said many times before, Felder could have said a lot of great things about the movie, but because that wouldn't sell advertising space, it may have been edited out.

Oh, and in general I am a fan of Felder's. I know that sometimes doesn't come through. I just wish he'd give up his agenda of putting Glenn down in a backhanded way every time someone sticks a microphone in his face. Every time he does it, I lose a little more respect for him.

I want what he's been smoking so that I can rewrite my own life and believe it.

For Felder to put his two solo-career records on the same level with Glenn and Don's solo bodies of work is (IMO) delusional.
For Felder to put his two solo-career records on the same level with
Joe's seven solo efforts and Timothy's five is (IMO) laughable.

I agree, VA. I'll take a toke of whatever he's smokin'.
