I definitely won't throw anything at you, I think they're an excellent band. I think there's a few other fans on the board too. I've had their first two albums for a while and got Street Survivors for Christmas. I haven't given it a full listen yet, although I already love That Smell and What's Your Name.

I'm actually listening to Skynyrd at the moment, Still Unbroken from their God and Guns album. They're one of my favorite bands. My favorite albums are Second Helping and Street Survivors. (I have my dad's vinyl copy of the Street Survivors album with the original "in flames" artwork).
Besides listening to music, I'm debating what to eat for supper. I'm thinking of doing a breakfast for supper thing.

Can't say that I blame you for drinking those screwdrivers. If I were about 8 months older, I would be drinking as well. I hope that both of us start to feel better soon, but I've got a feeling that it'll be at least a few weeks before I'm back to my normal. I really need to contact the college, but I don't think that I can this week.

For the past two days I've been (as well as trying to find a job) listening to Glenn's solo music and following how Glenn's passing is acknowledged in various places here in Finland. I've been trying to remind people of this great man on Facebook. I've seen a few Facebook friends post tributes on their Facebook pages, and it's wonderful. I don't think Glenn's name is that well known here in Finland, and I just want people to know. Maybe I'm being selfish ("I want you to hurt like I do"), but it's also that...in certain musical circles here Glenn should be remembered at the moment, and I'm following that. Most of what I've been doing has something to do with Glenn.

I mostly use Facebook only for chatting. And if I post something now and then (about something that has been in the news) it's in Finnish, of course. I'm rather private, so I don't "open up" there, and I don't have any pictures of myself there, although my wife has several on her Facebook page.

I just started a load of laundry. I know I shouldn't be making the steps alone but I am so bored and I can't expect my poor son to still have to do my laundry. Then I have some paperwork to go through.
Last night my son and his girlfriend took me out to the mall and for dinner. I wanted to look for shoes with some support after I get out of the splint. That didn't go well. My foot is still too swollen to even get a shoe on. I did find a really cute pair of jessica Simpson ballet flats but they won't work anytime soon. I am not going to wear what I would consider "old lady' shoes. I can't imagine a spring/summer without flip flops..or...glup...heels. At least I have a Starbucks frappe;-)
I am soooo bored just sitting home. I have to wait until Feb 1st to schedule my MRI & orthopedic doctor. Dang insurance change.
Other than that...happy Wednesday. Now to go kick 2 cats out of my bed.

Thanks LT. The ultrasound went smoothly. The heart monitor isn't quite as bulky and cumbersome as I thought it would be. My main concern is sleeping with the thing. I flip and flop and kick in my sleep, and I can only take the device to get a shower. :?

I walked 12 laps around my driveway this morning, think I pushed it too far but no pain is no gain. Can't see the ortho doctor until middle of April. I am also waiting on a call back from MOEN. My shower faucet has been leaking since November. Good thing MOEN has a lifetime warranty. Kim I feel for you with your grandfather. The staying in bed & not bathing will eventually cause bed sores so be careful with that. I wish your family the best. My mom had dementia the last 2 years of her life. We were fortunate that between my sister, my 2 sons & me she had 24/7 care. She did live in the past a lot but she was pretty good about walking around her house & bathing.
Brooke I can relate to kitchen re-model nightmares. I did mine 5 years ago. I worked for a kitchen re-modeler so I know how it usually goes. 3 weeks without a working kitchen, I swore I would never eat take-out again.

It took me almost an hour to inch my way out of bed this morning. I finally downloaded an app to measure my steps. My driveway is .1 tenth a mile, I did 30 laps yesterday. It was too many so I am suffering. Heck I thought since I didn't walk Sunday I could double up. Won't do that again.

Started off pulling weeds in my garden before my son comes & starts to mulch my flower beds. I realized I didn't have nearly enough bedding plants so I decided to call that a day & go shower.
Then decided I would drive to Wally World for plants, a few cleaning items & tylenol. Then I was going to head to the drug store to drop off my meds to get refilled & then planned to go to a grocery store because I was hungry for salmon for dinner.
Went to Wal Mart ended up with a new brace for my foot a new bathing suit & Mangnum ice cream bars. Not 1 thing on my list. Never made it for plants, drug store or groceries but ice cream did make an amazing dinner. Now I am totally exhausted.

Thanks LT, Rudie, and AT!
It wasn't as hard as I first thought it would be. When I first started, I would've been happy to just pass all four classes. Two of my classes were half online, and one was completely online, so that freedom helped some. I had the option to stay for the support English class, which was 15 minutes after the regular class ended. The support class was 90 minutes long, and I could work on any work for any class during that time period. My English teacher was also the teacher for my online only class, so I was able to get some face-to-face time with her for that class. The only class that was fully face-to-face lasted for 3 hours. It usually took about an hour to complete the work for each week, so I would use the other two hours for doing work from other classes.
With that extra time at the college, I was able to get most of my work done there. That allowed me to have some free time in the late afternoon and evening time. I did have to pull a few partial "allnighters", but that was the worst it got.
This morning starts my three week break in-between semesters. I'm currently relaxing. I don't intend to do anything today except read, watch DVDs, and listen to music.

Listening to Long Road Out of Eden after buying it for $4 today at Rasputin Music. The copy that I got was missing a disc after I checked it right after I bought it, so my dad quickly drove back to let me exchange it for another one. I also bought The Very Best of for $6 because I wanted the pictures and the liner notes on the songs. Actual Miles was $3, so I got that too just for the last 3 songs.
Before going to Rasputin, my dad and I went to Streetlight Records, and I got Inside Job for $3. I didn't know it was buy one for $3 get one free, so I got But Seriously Folks. 5 albums for $16 and they either matched or undercut Amazon/eBay by price. I don't have Prime, so it's $4 shipping for something that costs less than $1, which I find annoying.
On a side note, I have no idea why these stores didn't have copies of The Long Run or One of These Nights. Are they not popular or do people like those enough not to resell them? My folks have the latter, but I'm still searching for the former.

I feel the same way about procrastination, AG95. That's how I did College English last year and how I approach US History class this semester. I probably shouldn't have this attitude about college app essays, but I didn't know until about 2 weeks ago that I wanted to go to a school where they require a personal statement. It's possible that an essay might not be necessary anymore, since I have to make some calls tomorrow to a few schools. I only got a 3 on the AP English Language exam, which doesn't qualify as English 1A at some schools. I took 1B and got an A, but that doesn't exempt me from doing 1A again b/c of a passing but not great AP score. A 3 is fine at a community college though.

I'm in the second and last required English course, English 1102 (English composition II). I'm currently thumbing through Hawthorne's Young Goodman Brown, trying to find 10 words that are unfamiliar to me. I have to look the words up, write down the definition I found, and compare the definition to the way Hawthorne used the word. I've found two words so far after nearly 20 minutes of studying 15 paragraphs. Who would've thought that having a huge vocabulary could hinder a person? This is going to take a while.
I wish you good luck with your calls, essays, exams, and classes, Rudie.

Thanks, AG95. I recommend just finding words that you think are difficult. I'm sure you know that already and just want to make a good faith effort. If it sounds old, then just do the work for it. Anyways, hope you've made good progress since then. It's almost 3 am over there.

Thanks Rudie. I found 4 more, so I've got 6 now. I'm going to find another 4 more after 6-7 hours of sleep. I'm glad that 2 pm class is my first class of the day.

I'm currently rejoicing because I finally got that 1,000 word History essay completed! I completed it after my math test (I made an 80 on it.) My math teacher helped me by proofreading it.

Avoiding work at work. Reading Alison Moyet's Twitter page. Who knew she was such a laff riot? She coulda been a comedian. Oh yeah, but she sings way too good. She was Adele long, long before there was an Adele.

What a coinci-dink, NMB, we were hiking and fossil-hunting earlier today but it wasn't quite the Everglades!

I'm attempting to watch my DVD of The Philadelphia Story, but I keep pausing it to reply to these wonderful posts here on The Border! Lol...
I've never been fossil hunting, but it sounds like a fascinating way to spend one's day.
Later this afternoon I will assume my place before the stove and prepare a good luck dinner consisting of pork loin, Hoppin' John, and greens. (Maybe I'll include cornbread, just to gild the lily a bit.)
I hope each of you are enjoying your New Year's Day and will have a lovely 2017!

Yes, born and raised in NC, but haven't lived there for many years.
Be sure to report back to us on the CNN Chicago doc, for those of us who will have to miss it. Enjoy! :-)

We found some clams and other mollusks. My boys were especially excited to find the skeletal remains of a deer carcass. No arrowheads, unfortunately.
LT, your good luck dinner sounds delish. We had black-eyed peas, cabbage and cornbread plus some other fixins prepared by my SIL. Here's to good luck!

This fossil hunting day, as you have described it, makes me want to investigate the opportunities to do this in my area. So glad your boys were enamoured of their day out with the family!
Your good luck dinner also sounds delish! I'm happy I went ahead with the cornbread as it added that extra something to the meal. Y'all have a great 2017!

Watching YouTube. I recently splurged on YouTube Red, which is an ad free YouTube with the ability to have background play on mobile devices. I was skeptical at first but my YouTube addiction went from bad to worse. BUT, it comes with their streaming service for free, so I was able to cancel Spotify Premium. So I'm getting ad-free YouTube and music streaming for one price. No brainer to me.

Well I had decided to bring my now teenage 'kids' for a picnic today as it was forecast to be the hottest day of the year as well as the longest! But I woke up to the sound of a downpour so thats the picnic gone. I'll have to think.....

I'm in a study room in my college's library, reading the last two acts of a 17th century play for my Brit Lit class. (This is our third and final play.) I'll probably be in this room doing schoolwork until the library closes at 7pm.

Pondering: there is no diplomatic way to tell a co-worker that she wears waaayyy too much perfume. So much that it makes yer eyes water. Can't do it. Have to suffer in silence.

That is tricky. I remember once I was sitting in my office with the door open, with my seat being quite a way into my office. Someone walked past me, and a few seconds later this huge waft of perfume wafted over me. It really can be overpowering.
EDIT: Looking back further: 17th century plays, Jackfruit eating (I've always wondered what it's like), etc. Interesting things we're up to.
I do like picnics. It's been ages since we had a proper one with interesting food. Rather than just sandwiches.

If you're ever in downtown Miami, there is an Indonesian restaurant (Bali Cafe) that makes jackfruit ice cream - it's really good. However, I can't recommend unadulterated jackfruit for your picnic :) But wait, I'm talking to an adventurous guy who would consider a Gambian pouch rat for a pet! You may like it.

:D
I've got a tin of sweet jackfruit at home which I bought intending to try. But, I never did. I hope it's still within it's best before date.
EDIT: The Jackfruit had a sell-by date of December 2017, so I've tried it. It's OK, but I prefer both mango and pineapple. The Jackfruit has quite a mild flavour and a smooth texture. Is fresh jackfruit more distinctively flavoured?
I ended up eating it with some fake ice-cream. Which was OK, but I can't see the reason to buy it when I can buy fresh mango chunks.
